Chapter 18: The Unexpected Guest
The next day Kate woke up to the beam of sun directly shining on her face. She pulled the duvet over her face which was snatched from her very rudely by someone. She squinted through the bright light to see Ethan standing with her duvet in his hand and a sheepish smile on his face.
"Morning sleepy head," he said as she got up to get her blanket back.
"Give me the fu*king blanket Ethan!!" she shouted.
"Sshhh, other's are sleeping and no swearing."
"Then let me sleep too," she said trying to snatch her blanket.
"I'm leaving for school. I just wanted to say bye to you," he said pouting.
"Oh sweetie, bye and take care," she said as she abandoned her blanket and hugged him.
"Uh... now that you're awake... can you make me breakfast? I'm hungry," he asked as he pulled away.
"Sandwiches?"
"I know you can't make anything else."
"You want it or you do pretty?" she asked as she went to brush her teeth.
"Sorry. I'll be happy with the sandwiches."
"Good," she mumbled.
They both went down to the kitchen where Josh was already making something.
"Morning guys!" he said as they both looked at each other shocked.
"Watcha doing?" Kate asked.
"Making us scrammbled eggs with toast, coffee for you and tea for the rest."
"I don't drink tea," Ethan said.
"I know that honey, here's your juice."
"Oh sweet lord... can you be my boyfriend?" Ethan asked as Josh served them both.
"Josh this is amazing!" Kate said as she took a sip of her coffee.
"My pleasure. And Ethan, as much as I'd love to be yours, there is a certain someone who has already caught my eye... sorry to disappoint you hon," Josh turned his back to them and started cooking again.
"You are straight away denying me for a girl?? Who is she?"
"Uh... a girl??" Josh said.
"Yeah. Who's she? Tell me her name," Ethan continued.
"I- I can't."
"Why?"
"Bcuz... I'm not ready to... uh.. tell her."
"Be a man and tell her dude, what worse can happen other than denial?"
"She might kill me?"
"Is she a serial killer?"
"Maybe... she's a dangerous girl."
"Do I know her?"
"Aren't you getting late for school, hon?" Josh asked.
"Well yeah, but my love interest doesn't wanna tell me about his love interest... I wanna knoww... pleaseee?"
"I thought you were straight," Josh said.
"Heyyy... dat doesn't mean I can't love you... please tell meee."
"C'mon Eth, you're getting late for school... you don't want detention now, do you?" Josh asked placing Ethan's plate in the dishwasher.
