Lewis. That was the name on the newest grave.
The doll, Lewis, just stared at the grave with its name on it. "I can't believe I let myself die here."
Matthew scooped up the doll. "I'll take you with me."
"With you where?" Lewis asked as he hung on tightly.
"When I leave here, I'll bring you with me. There's no reason to stay in a graveyard." Matthew was still a bit skeptical. Trust someone that actually loved him, as in, Alter Pit, or some random talking doll?
"Fine. I hope you have snacks in your bag." Lewis crawled over his shoulder into the black backpack.
Matthew went back into the house, going up to his room. He could hear noises downstairs, but disregarded them.
He broke off the makeshift flagpole off the wall, wrapping Lewis up in the flag.
"Ow, hey!" the doll protested.
"Shush." He set the hockey stick down on the bed.
Why is it so cold?
"Why must you stay?" It was the voice of a little girl no older than six.
Matthew whipped his head around. Floating around him were three ghosts. The oldest was a thirteen year old girl, wearing a white and brown bunny mask with red button eyes and a forced smile. The youngest, also a girl, was the one who spoke. She had on a tarnished yellow bear mask with black button eyes. The middle girl who could have only been eight, had a black bear mask with one yellow eye and one black eye.
"Who are you?" Matthew pointed the hockey stick at them.
The oldest bowed her head. "I was Vanessa. This is Charlotte" the girl with the black mask, "and Cassidy." the girl with the yellow mask.
"You are unconvinced." Charlotte whispered. "So were we."
The ghosts stepped aside to reveal a large mirror. It was of him, but as a ghost. His mask was a yellow ochre rabbit with a wide smile, whiskers, and a pointed nose. It had purple button eyes in the place of where its eyes should have been.
"Do you see your fate now?" Cassidy hissed. "You must leave."
Leave. Lewis gave him the same warning. And now three ghosts were telling him the same thing, even showing him what would happen.
He needed to leave. Right now.
