It had been almost two months since Matthew was admitted to the hospital, and he was recovering. Sure, he was covered in more scars than Will would ever earn, but he was glad he was alive. His family and his friends visited often, and so did Ahaki. He kept Lewis with him the whole time, since he couldn't bear to be away from the doll, not after all that happened.

Right now, the plush was busy chewing on a pen that Matthew let him have, occasionally muttering nonsense.

"I didn't know you could speak Minecraft enchantment language." Matthew lightly teased.

Lewis stared hard at him, narrowing his cotton candy eyes. Then he chewed more on the pen, making little growling sounds as he did so.

"Somebody's upset."

"Shut the hell your mouth." Lewis snapped around the pen.

"Alright, alright." Matthew nibbled on the flavorless toast he was having for breakfast. "I wanna know more about you, Lew."

"I'm a doll, Glitch, there's nothing to know." Lewis sighed, they'd had this conversation multiple times.

"You were human, Lewis. You have a human name, and you can speak. You're a spirit possessing a doll." Matthew pushed. "Surely there's more to you than cat antics?"

He waited for the doll to speak. Then, the doll finally did.

"I can't remember much," he admitted, "but I do know I lived in the UK, and that I had two pugs. I moved here, and made a friend. Then I got lured into that dimension, and I died. That's it."

"Do you know your last name?"

Lewis tried to remember. Tried to remember something from his past other than what he had told Matthew. He whimpered, What's my last name?!

"Maybe if I search up your name, it could help." Matthew hugged the doll close, pulling his phone out and typing, "lewis".

The first result was "lewis afton missing case".

"You might wanna read this, Lew." Matthew pulled up an article.

"Seventeen year old Lewis Afton was formally pronounced dead as of April 9th of 2019, as the five year national search turned up empty handed. Police say Afton was last seen in his house asleep before going missing that same evening. In an interview with his parents, they both have said that Afton was acting unusually, being very secretive about things and looking tired all the time. As of now, there is no evidence that Afton was kidnapped or murdered, and the investigation was classified as cold. His best friend Kellen Molten talked about Afton in a viral video, saying 'He would never run away, not my Lew. No, he had to have been kidnapped. I'm just so worried about him, this isn't like him at all.'"

"T-they just quit?" Lewis repeated. "They didn't even search for a decade!"

"They searched the whole country." Matthew said, disgusted. "Didn't bother to check globally. Lew, if you were still alive, you'd be twenty three now."

The doll didn't answer.

I changed his last name as to not cause chaos. Apologies in advance.
