Once the rogue in human form saw me, he spoke one sentence that made my blood boil.

"We will be back for the so called Alpha Female of the Eridanus pack soon." He laughed evilly, then turned and ran away. I roared in rage, making anyone in a ten foot radius bow down to me. I knew right then and there that these were the bastards who slaughtered an innocent pack. My mates pack. But why have they come to seek her out now? That's my biggest question.

Heather's POV

It's been hours since Mateo left me alone. I'm starting to get worried that something had happened. He won't answer me over our link, which starts to make me terrified. Gramps has been with me since Mateo left the room after he got a phone call. I didn't question why he was leaving, as Mateo may tell me what its about if its truly important. The pack doctor has come in to check on me, and the only thing she told me was that I had to eat better, that I was under weight. I snapped at her, baring my teeth in anger at her ridiculous statement. I was fine. She ran out of the room terrified, which only caused a male doctor to walk in.

He explained to me that she was a new doctor, still being trained. I told him what she told me, and he just shook his head. "Luna, from what I can tell you are perfectly healthy. She just doesn't understand that you have been living on a paleo diet for many years. You were living off the land, were you not?" He questioned at the end. I smiled and nodded yes in response, as someone finally knew the correct answer.

"I would like to say though, just for in the future, try eating more fatty meats, only to balance out your diet, other than that Luna, you are fine. I would also like to keep you one more day, seeing as your left side is still a little tender, even though you have been here a week." I nodded again, not arguing with him. What the doctor says, goes without argument. He left soon after I answered.

I turned to gramps, ready to confront him about the letters, but he beat me to the punch.

"I found those letters on your uncles desk soon after we came home. I knew about his decision to make you alpha, and so did your parents, but he was very secretive about it anyway. Before we had left to go on our trip, your uncle made me promise to train you if he were to ever pass before your 10th birthday. I kept my promise to him. Just like I kept my promise to your parents, to make sure you were safe, happy, healthy and loved beyond repair. At the age of five your mind was already strong, you had bright, reasonable ideas, and when it came to training you mentally, you passed with flying colors each time. By the age of ten you were running laps around me, and my the age of fifteen, you could lift a large tree stump without breaking a sweat." He paused there. Contemplating his next words.

"This next part is hard for me to say, but you must know before its to late. The pin I gave you, was the first beta's daughters, so its now just over a hundred years old. There is a prophecy that was stated when the Eridanus pack was first formed. It goes like this,

95 years from now a daughter will be born,

She will have black hair, and eyes that pierce like thorns.

She will be of ancient royal blood,

Soon bringing total peace, that will even ripple through the mud.

On the night of her tenth birthday she will change,

Growing fur of pure silver and standing taller than someone twice her age.

The moon will bless her left eye,

Marking her a powerful being that no one can deny.

The name she will be given will start with an H, M, and end with C,

Only to belong to the beta family.

She will be the rightful swan to a thrown of gold,

But her mate has to accept her before she turns 25 years old.

For once this age is met,

She may fall and be trapped in the murderers net.

So beware all,

Because the swan could return to her king,

Or could she could brutally fall."

Gramps sighed, taking a deep breath after telling me the prophecy. It was about me. I was born in the 95th year of the pack being formed, I had black hair with piercing eyes, my name started with H, M and C, I was born into the beta family, and I did have my first shift at the age of ten. My fur was the color of silver as well. I just stared at him with wide eyes, and in that moment, Mateo walked in, most likely hearing the whole prophecy. He came over to me, enveloping me in his arms of rippling muscles. I closed my eyes, taking everything in that has happened in my first week being here.

I was marked by Mateo, resulting me to go in a coma. Only learning that the reason was because I was declared alpha of my home pack. Which in turn a prophecy was told about me, which basically states that I will bring world peace, or fall into the hands of the enemy by the time I'm twenty-five. And on top of all that I was from a line of ancient royal blood. How the hell does that work!

After sitting quietly for a few minutes, I slowly open my eyes to see gramps staring at me with his 'I got one more thing to say' face. I sighed, telling him to spit it out. "I've completed all my tasks that I have promised our fallen family members, and now, this time next month, I will pass on to be with them. You knew this time was coming sooner or later, and now that I have fulfilled my orders, I must once again go be with my wife and children. " he said, tears streaming his face. I gasped, tears springing into my eyes again. I shook my head no repeatedly, not trusting my voice. Gramps only looked at me sadly, patting my hand in his comforting way. He wasn't one for hugs until it was the final goodbye. He told me that seven years ago.

Mateo just held me. Holding me in a way to tell me that it was going to be okay in the end. I knew he was right, but it was still heartbreaking, being told that your last living relative was basically on deaths door, like  friends waiting to meet once again.  I tried to find the words to talk, but gramps just shook his head, before pointing at mine then his. He was telling me to use the family link. My right eye glazed over as I opened the link to talk to him

"Gramps you can't leave me just yet!" I screamed at him.

"Heather, you must understand that I do not want to leave you, but I must. My time here is coming to an end, and I don't want it to end on a sad note." He said, trying to keep his mental voice from breaking.

"I'm not ready for you to leave old man. We just got back, you can't leave me again." I whimpered.

"Oh my little girl. I will always be with you. And when the time comes for me to leave in April, I will tell you, and you can take me home." He spoke in a whisper, trying to keep it together.

"I-I'll take you home, to the place where you belong, gramps. I'll take you home."  I cut the mind link there, not wanting to continue. I couldn't speak, I couldn't think, I could only stare blankly at the wall across the room. Gramps knew that look on my face better than anyone, so he quietly took Mateo away from me, explaining that when I was in this type of mental state, it was better to leave me alone.

Alone. That is what I am going to be in a months time. When I first arrived here, it was February 26th, now its March 5th. So on April first I will take Grandpa home, and we will spend the week there. I will bury him by his mate and my parents, and then I will truly be alone. No more family and no more pack. I will be alone for the rest of my life.
