"You know my swan, you should really go talk to Mateo. He is only trying to help, and your stubbornness is only getting in the way." Gramps told me once he sat back down. I just stared at him like he grew a second head.

I shook my head in protest, still clearly upset from this morning. Gramps only glared at me, making me cave in. "Good. Go get your heels on, your nice coat you wore yesterday and head on over there." Gramps said with a victorious smile. I did as I was told, and even grabbed my moms family crest, fastening it to the coat.

I walked back down the stairs, completely nervous. Gramps was standing at the door waiting for me. "Let me walk you home old man." I said right as I looped my arm through his. He just smiled down at me, feeling proud to call me his granddaughter. It was a five minute walk to gramps' house. Once we got there I kissed gramps on the cheek, before continuing my journey to the second largest building in town, the pack house.

Once I reached the pack house, I just stood outside the grand building. I just stared at it, contemplating going in or running away. If you run away now your new pack will see you as scared and weak.  I scolded myself. So, standing up tall, with as much confidence I can muster, I walked into the pack house. On the main floor was a reception desk, doors down the hallway on the left, and the kitchen and huge dining room to the right. I walked up to the desk, and spoke to the lady there. "Excuse me, is Alpha Cepheus in any meetings?" The lady looked up at me before smiling a genuine, sweet smile.

"He has no more meetings today." She replied after looking at what I assumed was his schedule. "Does that include any in person or over the phone meetings?" I asked nervously. She nodded in response. "And where could I find his office?" I asked once more. She looked at me curiously, then looked at her notes for the day before looking back at me. "You must be our new Luna. Let me show you to the Alpha's office." The lady said while stepping out from behind the desk.

The receptionist had short, wavy blonde hair, dark skin, a set of amber looking eyes, and short build. She wore a white blouse with a cream cardigan, black pencil skirt that fell at her knees, and a pair of black kitten heel shoes, she even wore a minimal amount of makeup. She looked no more than twenty three, but still dressed professionally. "Might I say Luna, you look very nice today." She spoke in front of me. "Thank you," I replied happily. She spoke up again, "Your coat looks very nice on you as well." I giggled in joy at the compliment, "Why thanks. Its styled from the 1950's."

The lady lead me down the left hallway, stopping in front of the door right at the end of the hall. She turned to me smiling, "Well it suits you well Luna. My name is Lyn if you need anything else." Lyn stated while bowing before walking back to her desk. I stood outside Mateo's office, building up the courage to knock. Finally, before I completely chickened out, I lifted my right hand and knocked on the door softly. A mumbled "Who is it?" Sounded from the other side. I answered back quickly "Alpha, its Luna." Once I said that, the door was flung open in anticipation. Mateo stared down at me as he gestured for me to come in. I stepped into his large office, looking around while he shut the door again.

The office held a large oak desk, two Victorian winged blue chairs, on either side of a small table, sitting in front of a fire place. Behind the desk was a large window, that reached the ceiling and floor. On the left wall was a decent sized oak book case, while the floor was a navy blue carpet. The office seemed cozy yet professional.

I looked back at Mateo who had sat back at his desk, staring at me. "What brings you here Luna?" He asked in his gruff tone of voice. I walked over to him, perching myself on the right side of his desk. "Well, my grandpa talked some sense into me, in the Cygnus fashion that is. And you said I could come visit you at the office any time, only if you weren't in a meeting. Your receptionist is very helpful." I stated. He nodded his head before going back to what he was working on. I looked over at what he was working on to see he was staring at a map of his land, and set of blue prints for a large gazebo.

I looked over at the map again, finding that places were marked down on it. I noticed that there was a large portion of unfarmed land by the park, making it the perfect place for the gazebo structure. "Alpha, if I may make a suggestion." Had slipped out of my mouth before I could even think. Mateo only turned to look at me with cold eyes, "What?" He snapped at me. I pointed to the unmarked land beside the park, "The gazebo could be built by the park, so, on a warmer day, parents with young children can hide out in the shade, while also watching there other children play." I stated with a cocky smile and tone of voice.

He looked to where I was pointing, then back at me with his jade eyes a flame. "I've been looking at this map for the last half hour, and never noticed that." His voice dripped this fascination and a hint of pride. He then picked up my hand closest to him and kissed the back of it in appreciation. I froze at the shown affection he gave me. Not really knowing what to do.

Mateo then made the right calls to set the project in motion. He then rolled the map and blueprints up, putting them away, before grabbing me by the hips and sliding me across his desk so I was right in front of him. I gulped in slight fear, not knowing what was going on. Mateo kept his hands on my waist, while he stood back, staring at me. "You know Heather, its just the two of us at the moment, you can call me by my first name." He states, while looking at me with an unknown emotion in his eyes.

I sighed, scared of the words that were about to come out of my mouth, not wanting to upset Mateo, as his emotions switch like a light switch. "Look Mateo, I have no idea why you chose to take me as your mate, and I have no clue why your parents decided to loot my home. But one things for sure, there is no way in hell they just decided to go into a deceased persons home, only to pack up there things and claim them as their own. And god only knows why the fuck they gave you my fathers ring, that you so proudly wear around your neck. I went through everything this morning, and it was the hardest thing I ever did since I got here, and you want to know why. Because you left the house in a goddamn rage, not even thinking if that was going to worsen my mood or not. And it did. I was so upset that you didn't even have an ounce of sympathy."

I took a deep breath before continuing my rant. "I was five when they died. My mom laid down her life to protect me when I wasn't there, and my father laid down his life to try and protect my mom and my unborn sibling! And you had the audacity to storm out of the house when I gave you the cold shoulder and showed an ounce of my stubbornness to you. So you better stop being a fucking moody light switch, and start to get used to my attitude! And if you need help in learning how to take care of me, or deal with me, ask the man I call grandfather!" I stared at him as I ran out of breath. I then put on my sweetest smile "Supper will be grilled steak and asparagus, cooked over a fire."

Mateo's eyes turned a dark shade of green, signifying that he was getting angry. I stood my ground, still staring at him with my eyes of swirling blues and golds. He then growled lowly at me before snapping.

"I'm the fucking light switch, then you must be a never ending shit storm! Don't come into my office and tell me off like your the queen of the universe! I am the alpha, you are the luna! You bow to me!"

I slapped him right then and there. "I. Bow. To. No One!" I screamed as I scrambled off his desk. Mateo just stood there seething. I smirked my famous Cygnus smirk before heading for the door. I looked over my shoulder as I turned the nob, "Oh and by the way, I am the queen of the universe, your universe." I then turned the nob and ran down the corridor, giggling like a maniac as I knew that last phrase would set him off after me.

And I was right. I heard heavy foot falls come after me. I turned to the right, running straight for the entrance. Mateo was still on my tail. I kept running, right to the house, only to go around to the back before trying to dive into the tent. I failed miserably, as a pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist, and hot, ragged breath going down my neck. As Mateo stepped closer to me, still holding me captive, I tried to get away, but I was breathless after such a short run. Mateo then whipped me around, making me face him. I looked into his eyes and they were black once more. But, what surprised me the most, was him biting into the left side of my neck.

I screamed, angry that he hadn't even lasted a day. So in utmost revenge, I did the exact same thing to him. I bit him in the neck, but when I did, I suddenly heard a voice in my head. It sounded sweet as honey, but still had a bit of roughness to it. I let go in shock, and slumped against Mateo suddenly weak in the knees. "Like what you hear Heather."  I stared up at Mateo shocked. He was in my head, talking to me. "I must be going crazy."  but I was only met with a simple "Nope,"  in my head.

I then passed out due to the sudden weakness I felt all over my body. All I could make out before completely drowning in darkness was a "Shit. Heather!"
