Jia's POV

"Hey, I might not be able to pick you up since I'm meeting with a comrade of mine later" Soonyoung spoke before I could even exit the house.

"Sure, no worries" I answered.

"But call me when something happens, okay?" The tone of his voice suddenly changes into a worried one.

"Y-Yeah, I will" I muttered a reply before I left the house.

Ever since I woke up earlier, Soonyoung won't talk nor even budge at me. I was starting to think that he hates me, but when he spoke earlier, it made me feel relieved.

He's been quiet since last night.

He probably thinks that I'm not trustworthy.

Which is making me anxious.

I tried initiating a conversation earlier, but all he did was nod his head and avoid my gaze. It seems that he was in a deep thought earlier and he looks uncomfortable.

I don't know what's happening, but this is probably something serious.

Considering the fact that, that man threatened me right after I rejected his offer.

"Jia! You're finally here! I gotta go now, bye!"

"Okay, take care-" I was cut off when he ran past me with his bag.

As soon as I entered the shop, I immediately went to change at the back into my uniform and went to work. I tried distracting myself by listening to the radio and doing my work thoroughly, but I'm still anxious.

Not only I'm scared of myself to die, but also Soonyoung.

I'm worried about him.

His life is probably on the line right now.

I feel ashamed because there is nothing that I could do, but just stand and watch him do the work while he protects me whom is just a burden.

I should've never gotten myself involve with him.

But if I didn't meet him, I wouldn't feel like this.

I wouldn't feel accepted, understood nor have someone to rely to.

It is so strange to think that even for a just a few days. Soonyoung and I have formed a bond between us, and the peculiar thing is that I feel safe and comfortable when he is around me.

I don't trust people easily.

But Soonyoung made me realize that sometimes I have to open my heart.

It's only been a few weeks since we met and I know that just a few more days, he will finally leave the house since he told me that he'll be staying only for a month when we met.

I actually don't want him to leave.

Not because I'm scared of having no one to protect me.

The reason is more likely about my heart and feelings.

It sounds cliche, but I have never felt like this ever since Soonyoung came. He protected me when death came to me. Meanwhile, I have tried to kill myself a million times already for the passed few years.

For the whole working hours, I cannot help but to look frantically around, my hand would tremble from time to time due to the fear of having someone watching over me.

I am also scared that someone might attack me all of a sudden.

"Geez, my shift earlier was tough! I had to deal with this hard-headed custo-" I turned to Joshua which made him halt his words.

"Hey, is...everything all right?" He asked as he examined me.

"Y-Yeah, wh-why?" I responded.

"You seem scared, did something happen?" He asked as I shook my head.

"No, no, nothing happened. Everything's fine," I forced out a smile as he gave me a suspicious look.

"I-I'll be off now!" I exclaimed before exiting the store with my bag.

My shift is finally over which means I get to be at home and relax even for a while. Soonyoung is probably talking to his comrade right now which is good because they might be negotiating on what to do with this situation.

Soonyoung's POV

"We finally meet," I sat down across Minkyung who was wearing all-black, as usual, crossing her legs.

"Let's get this over with" I said in a serious, firm tone.

"Soonyoung, you really have to come back as soon as possible," she spoke as I scoffed, rolling my eyes in annoyance.

Pulling out the persuasion card on me again.

"You should be thankful that I'm still not telling mom on your whereabouts or else she might send her guards and force you to come back" I avoided her gaze as I crossed my arms.

It is actually good that only my sister knows where I am.

"I'm not coming back until I'm done solving father's case" She suddenly slammed her fist on the table, making me flinch.

The good thing is, the coffee place we're in right now is empty since she rented it for an hour while her underdogs stood by the doorway to guard.

I have not been able to make a move due to the fact that the security in the office of uncle was very tight and it is quite impossible to just snuck in without a single underdog noticing me. Plus the fact that, I am the main target of my uncle.

It's hard to think of a move to make.

"How many times do I have to tell you that this isn't your job?! This is my job, Kwon Soonyoung and I am going to do it, not you!"

"Then if it's your job, why aren't you working on it?!" I shouted back as she closed her eyes, before heaving out a sigh.

"I've killed multiple underdogs of uncle who tried to plot against both of us."

"You don't know how hard this work is because you know nothing about the laws and such," I shot her a glare as I clenched my jaw.

"How many lives do I have to take just for you to come back? I swear, when you come back, we can work on this case together, but I won't let you come with me during the action." My ears perked up when I heard her say those words, making me divert my gaze at her.

"Now, please come home?" She pleaded as I bit my lip in hesitation.

Who will take care of Jia?

She's all in my mind right now.

I can't just let her go off after all, someone might have already consider her as a target since she has come in contact with me.

"Let me think about it" I said

"All right, I'll be giving you a week to think" she nodded her head. We were about to converse some more when her phone rang.

"Wait what?" she exclaimed as she furrowed her eyebrows.

"Go for it, I'll be on my way" she turned her head towards me before ending the call.

"What is it?" I asked as she stood up.

"Jia is being attacked right now."
