POV: Phoenix
"I think you traumatised Morgan earlier. I'm sure they'll recover quickly though." He laughs and I watch the way his smile fills his face, the moon is visible through the open window and is making his skin glow slightly. Damn have I missed him. I gesture for him to move closer to me and watch as he shuffles over in the bed. "You're beautiful," I whisper as he becomes the little spoon. "Not as beautiful as you." He replies sleepily.I wake up before Jake and cook the three of us some breakfast before Morgan has to go back today. I know he'll be sad for a few days but I'm sure we'll be seeing Morgan again soon, how else are we going to meet their new man and do a background check on him. I deliver the food to Jake in bed and go round and get Morgan from his place, and bring them back to mine. Got my daily steps in.
"Thank you for the food, my train is in an hour so we need to leave soon," Morgan says sadly. "This is where you find out I secretly poisoned your food so you have to stay for longer..." I say and add a laugh after a dramatic pause. That causes the three of us to laugh sombrely and we end up in a group hug.
"I love you and have a safe trip back. Let me know when you're back, if not then I'll call mum in a panic and you know what she'll think." "I will!! And I love you too, I'll keep you updated when I get to the transfer too. Thank you for the packed lunch." Morgan replies as they give me and Jake one last hug before we watch them step onto the train. Jake takes my hand and leans his head on me.
"They'll be back with you before you know it bubba," I tell Jake as we're walking to the car park after watching the train leave the station. "I know, I just miss mog a lot," He replies. "Shall we get cake and watch movies?" I suggest to him. He looks over at me when he gets into the car and smiles. I'll take that as a yes.
"This cake is really good," Jake says as he shovels more into his mouth. "I agree, we should eat cake more often." We're sat in his living room on the sofa, this time we're apart from each other and it reminds me of the first time we sat on here together. Both of us awkward and not sure what to do- look at us now. Falling for each other and enjoying the company, we've come so far and Jake is almost like a new man. He still struggles, there's nightmares here and there that we work through, there's still days he'd rather stay inside, but he's made it when he thought he wouldn't. And for that I'm grateful.
POV: Jake
I miss mog a lot but I'd be lying if I said the cake hasn't made me feel a little better. Cake and the addition of cuddles can always make me feel good. "Can we watch a movie too? You did promise," I ask Phoenix as I accidentally jab him in the ribs when I turned to look at him. "Not that you've now assaulted me! No nice things when you've been bad," he pouts. "No fair," I reply. "Yes fair, let the cake digest and don't move and maybe I'll rethink my decision." He replies. He has in-fact got up to put a movie on now that I've sat still for a minute. He's too weak and I love that for him. "We're watching ratatouille, no questions asked." "I wasn't going to ask any." I reply with a smile.
"Wake up, you've missed half the movie," "I've been awake the whole time?" I say confused. "Got ya! Now shush- no talking when Remy is." "I-" I get silenced with a single finger placed upon my lips. I do love this movie though so I can't blame him but clearly he's getting a little bored as he's now poking my face. I poke him once and snuggle in closer to him so he can't get to my face as easily. He finds a way though and continues to poke me.
"What have we even done today?" I ask as we lay in bed. "We sent Morgan back home, ate cake and watched ratatouille. In the gaps afterwards and in between I do not know." "Me either but I am ready to sleep, I miss mog." I quietly sigh. "You'll be back together soon, and we can meet their man. I do kinda miss the farm animals, when will your mum have us back?" "Thankfully whenever we want to." "I'll book some time off work tomorrow so we can go spend some time there,"
I'm in the living room sat on the sofa, I had another nightmare and couldn't get back to sleep. Through the fear of keeping Phoenix up when he's got work tomorrow I told him I'd be okay and for him to go back to sleep. It's just me and my glass of water against the world currently. I don't even know what it was about, it could be due to the anxiety of general life or the anxiety of meeting Phoenixes friends in a few days time- yeah it was probably about that. They texted him earlier and he asked me before we got into bed earlier if I was okay with it. I am scared but I have to do this, I can't hide forever.
