POV: Jake
I'm back in the hospital again, stupid people who think it's their right to beat me up. I was walking home when I got jumped on from behind and knocked to the ground. In my poor attempt at saving myself, I managed to cut my hand open pretty badly and consequently couldn't fight back. So I'm also covered in bruises yet again. I refuse to ever leave the house again, I can get my shopping delivered to me and buy everything online. Problem solved.

Oh and I forgot to mention, I was on my way home from work when it happened. Not that I work there anymore... they let me go, said I'd taken too much sick leave. Discriminatory but I get it, I'm not reliable enough for them. Life really be falling to pieces currently.

I'm literally sat in the hospital getting stitches in my hand and I no longer have a job. My benefits will cover the cost of living but I won't be splashing out on anything any time soon. Fuck this, I'm just ready to leave and go home to the farm.

My phone starts ringing and I see phoenix's name appear. "Hey, where are you?" He asks worriedly. "I'm at the hospital," I say with a shaky sigh, the events of today making me want to start crying. "I'll be there, text me what ward and I'll see you soon." He replies before ending the call. I send him the ward and what room number I'm in before I truly feel like breaking. "Seriously, fuck this." I say out loud before bursting into tears.

My lack of control led to all the machines I was attached to start beeping, which made multiple nurses run in here with worried looks on their faces. When they realised I wasn't in danger, they silenced the machines and left my room, I was alone once again.

POV: Phoenix
I got to the hospital and was told by the nurses to go easy on him. What do they mean by that?
I hurriedly made my way to his room and opened the door to find him bruised, battered and broken. He looked up at me and began crying, "oh Jake, come here." I whisper as I wrap him in my arms carefully. He cried harder into me and held onto me with all his strength, my chest becoming wet from my tear soaked shirt. I manoeuvred from standing up to laying beside him, never letting go of him for too long and making sure I wasn't causing him any more pain. We're in this together now after all.

It breaks me to see him this way.

"Do you want me to go get food?" I ask him after a while of us laying there quietly whilst he was calming down. "Please," He croaks out whilst letting go of me. "I'll go grab us some Chinese," I reply before giving him one last squeeze and standing up. As I'm walking down the corridor, a group of running nurses come out from nowhere and run past me. I hope that person will be okay.

POV: Jake
As soon as the door closed I started bawling again, I'm just so done with everything. Another group of nurses burst into my room and stop suddenly when they realise I'm okay. "Sorry, your machines were beeping at the nurses station. Do you want anything?" One of them asks me quietly as the others leave. I shake my head and she leaves, a saddened look on her face. I turn onto my back and wince in pain, a few more tears make their way down the side of my head but I take no notice of them. I close my eyes and sigh, this is really what my life has become.

When I wake up, it's to Phoenix returning with food. I sit up slowly and brace myself for there to be pain, but nothing happens. I must have been given more meds when I was sleeping. The joys of having to have a cannula put in. They said I was dehydrated and it was quicker to administer medicine that way so I agreed to having one put in and now regret it because it's going to hurt like a bitch when they take it out.

"I got you noodles and I've got soup, we're lucky we got food to be fair. Everywhere is pretty much closed now." What? What time is is? I left for work at seven, surely it's not that late already. "It's nearly eleven," Phoenix says as he hands me my noodles.

Wow, time flies when you're having fun!

POV: Phoenix
After we finished eating I turned all the lights off in the room and made my way to the reclining chair in the corner. It wasn't exactly the most comfortable of things I've slept on, but it could have been worse I guess. Jake tried to get me to share his bed with him but I didn't want to cause him any more pain then he was already in plus I didn't want to accidentally pull out any of the things he was attached to. The nurses came in and gave me a duvet whilst we were eating so at least I won't be too cold laying here. "Goodnight Jake," I say into the dark room.
"Night Phoenix."

I wake up in the middle of the night to him quietly groaning in pain. "Do you want me to get a nurse?" I ask him quietly from the corner of the room. "They won't be able to do anything," He says even quieter. I sit up and let my eyes adjust to the dark room, the only light source coming from the machines he was hooked up to. I stand up and walk over to his bed, "let me get the nurse Jake, you're clearly in a lot of pain." "Fine," he grunts out as I walk towards the door to go and find a nurse.

They gave him stronger pain medication and told him to sleep, by now I was wide awake again despite it being only four in the morning. I sat in the chair next to his bed and watched him sleep, how can someone like him be left to deal with all of this on his own? He really shouldn't have to put up with this, I just want to protect him from everyone who wants to do him harm.

Life isn't fair.
