POV: Jake
I'd been trying not to think of him too much but when he called me last night it really made me miss him, even though he was drunk. But as they say, drunk words are sober thoughts. There's no time for resting when you're on the farm though, so I've been kept busy enough to not have him swimming around constantly in my mind. I forgot how much I missed it here, everyone else has missed me a lot and it made me realise I really need to call more. It's so nice and welcoming to be in a place where I don't have to hide, it's freeing almost. Everyone knows everyone and we're all like one little family even though only me, dad and mum are blood related.
There's about five other workers on the farm and they all live in the little cottage on the property, I've been staying in my old room in the house but I think I'm going to gatecrash the cottage tonight and stay with them as it's a little lonely at the main house.
"I'm going to go sleep at the cottage tonight, is that okay?" I ask my dad as I finally get in from working at seven. The suns setting and the farm has a cute orange glow about it. "Of course, take some snacks over for them all." He replies and he leaves the kitchen. I grab some crisps and make my way to the cottage.
We ordered some pizzas and are now all watching a movie, I have no idea which one because I'm not really watching it. I'm just enjoying being cuddled by Morgan. They're such a nice person and I honestly have probably missed them the most out of the whole gang. Everyone else just seems to be filling their faces and enjoying the company. Oh how I've missed this.
I ended up falling asleep on the sofa with Morgan and when I woke up in the middle of the night with a blanket over us and a crook in my neck I decided to wake them up and move to their room. I couldn't get back to sleep so I just laid there for a bit and sent Phoenix a text to see if he was awake, to my disappointment he wasn't.
By the time I had managed to drift off, the alarm was going off and it was time to get ready for work. This is one thing I haven't missed. "Morning Morgan," I say as they groggily sit up in bed. "Hey," they reply as I watch them get out of bed and stretch. I follow suit and say my goodbyes to everyone before going back to the main house and getting ready for work.
At lunch, me and Morgan decided to go and sit in one of the fields near the river and eat our food. I just made us some sandwiches and brought some crisps with us. "So, hows the big wide world?" Morgan asks. "Scary, I miss it here mog." "Tell me everything," They reply as they take my hand in theirs and lightly trace the pink scar on there.
And everything was told.
"Wow, it really is scary out there. You should've called jay." They say looking up at me. They'd moved to put their head in my lap and had their legs laid in the grass. "I know, I was trying to be a big boy and it didn't work out. But Phoenix has been looking after me, or at least trying to. We all know how stubborn I can be." We shared a laugh and I felt at home. I love this.
POV: Morgan
After Jake told me everything that had happened these past few months I had given him a hug and we stayed laying together in the field a little longer then we should have. He's really been to hell and back. But I'm glad he's found Phoenix and I clearly need to meet this guy if he's going to be a big part in my little jays life.I made Jake promise to FaceTime Phoenix when we were done with work today so I could meet him virtually and then eventually I'll meet him personally. Having him here these past few days have reminded me how much I missed seeing his face. When he went to London, he didn't speak to any of us and I was so worried about him but knew he'd be okay and would update me eventually. I just didn't imagine all of this happening to him though. I know he hates when people call him strong, because he doesn't think he is, but damn he really is. I just wish he'd have called sooner so he had more people to help him but I know Phoenix did a good job with him.
"Hey Phoenix," Jake says as a boys face appears on his screen. "Hey Jake," He replies. First of all, he looks fine and second of all, I already love him. "This is Morgan, I don't think I've told you about them before but I really should have." "Hey Phoenix, I've heard a lot about you." I reply as I wink and watch both boys go pink.
"I'm going to go make tea jay but I'll be back," I quietly add as I get up from the living room sofa and leave Phoenix and Jake alone. I hear Phoenix question why I called him jay and laugh a little because honestly we don't know how it started. One day he called me Mog and I called him Jay and it stuck, but that's not a bad thing. I throw some pizzas into the oven and make my way back to the sofa.
"On a scale of 2-8 how much do you miss Jake?" I ask Phoenix. "A solid 6." He replies and is met by Jake scoffing at him. "Good thing I miss you a 2 then," Jake replies sarcastically. "touché." Phoenix adds. Seeing these two together, even on FaceTime, brings a warmth to my heart. Jake deserves this after all he's been through, hopefully they can figure out whatever it is between them when Jay goes home.
