June
CHESF base, Classified
June sat in the circle. She did not want to be there. It didn't look like anybody wanted to.
All around her, people sat. Young people. Her age. There were four others. Two boys, two girls. The boy who sat directly across from her kept looking at her, and she pretended not to notice, but it was hard not to. The boy looked about her age. He had deep blue eyes, short blonde hair, and was very good looking. She tried not to notice the last fact.
Next to him was another girl. She had red hair, green eyes, and bright glasses that glinted off of the hanging lights. She was looking around, studying the others. The other boy had jet black hair that was short on the sides, but slicked back on the top. He did not look happy.
The last person was another female. A blonde, like the boy. She looked extra confused and dazed, like her bod was here, but her mind was somewhere else.
A door opened in the center of the bland concrete walls, and an old man walked in with another boy. This boy looked younger than the rest. He just had that kind of face. His skin was darker. Mexican or Spanish. The only person of color of the group. With a flop of dark hair, he sat down on the last remaining chair.
June thought it was overrated. She would spend the rest of her life with these misfits. She shouldv'e just stayed at the soup kitchen.
The old man stood in the middle of circle. He was currently facing away from June.
"Hello, all." He said in a deep, semi gravelly voice fit for an old man. "Thank you for accepting the invitation. You might have questions, but let me assure you that they will be answered, so hold them for later.
"You are currently in a military base that serves as the headquarters of an organization called the CHESF. My name is Commander Joshua Sanburn, but you may call me Glass. Some cadets came up with it. Anyway, you are here to help save the world from a threat named Dark Atlas."
"You mean the guy who ended the world?" The blonde boy asked.
"Yes."
"How?"
"Well, we will experiment on you and give you abilities that you will use to invoke the demise of Dark Atlas. Each of you is the prime candidate for these tests. You will become a team of warriors that are fit for the task of saving the universe."
"So we're your lab tests." The redhead said.
"Yes and no. We have already run the tests and have made them completely safe for you. While I go prep the tests, you guys can get to know each other."
The man walked out. The red head spoke first.
"My name is Skyler, but you can call me Sky. I'm not sure what is happening right now but I'm glad I get to meet all of you."
That broke the ice. The black haired boy spoke next.
"I'm Carter. I got kidnapped, then saved, then kidnapped again. I was already a hero in Hollywood before I came here."
Sky spoke, "Really? What movie were you in?"
"I'm not in a movie. I was a real life vigilante. I put two steel plates on my arms, and used them as shields.
"What was your name?"
"Didn't have one."
"Your like that old comic book superhero then, right?" No one sitting in the circle said that. The voice came from behind June. The other blacked haired girl gasped.
