Bernadette's health has improved significantly after your little spell. The rate of her recovery was so fast, all the doctors were shocked, they were more than sure she was at death's door a day ago but here she is now riding horses, playing with her daughter, and working out. She was fully healed after only 4 months.

The same couldn't be said for you, the spell you have cast took a huge toll on your small 5-year-old body, it was a high-level spell after all, and you also absorbed 60% of Bernadette's illness.

But then again, things wouldn't have worked out for you better, sure your body was sore 24/7 and you would occasionally cough out blood, but on the plus side, you didn't have to leave the comfort of your room, and the amount of human interaction you would usually have dramatically decreased. Your days were filled with reading books and watching anime on your computer. You will also get visits from the Cavendishes, that and the few maids were the only times you would have your said interactions.

Currently, Diana was fast asleep, arms wrapped around your waist. Her mother had an endearing smile on her face as she watched her daughter hugging her one and only friend, you.

"I hope you're not overworking yourself again. Cuz if you do, I won't be able to help you this time unless I myself want to die." You took a sip of your tea frowning at the bitter taste of the healing herb that was put inside.

Already gotten used to your bluntness, Bernadette patted your head and ruffled your hair, "Oh, you don't have to worry that cute little head of yours, Y/n. Both Anna and my sister made sure to drag me back to bed after midnight and I started eating 3 meals a day as recommended." Her expression turned a bit guilty as her hand dropped onto her lap, in a more softer and hushed voice, she asked, "How about you? I imagine my illness is no laughing matter in a body as young as yours. Is there anything I can do?"

You let out a sigh, "I'll be leaving for Japan for a full recovery in about a month or two, I'll be there for a few years. I just don't know how to bring this up to Diana though..."

Bernadette hummed in thought, "How about your back? You got a pretty powerful hit of a Murowa last week."

While tutoring Diana, her spell bounced back from the original target and was about to hit the girl, before you pushed her out of the way. Seeing you get hit by her spell, Diana burst out in tears and apologized frantically, while you fought back tears that were threatening to spill out. You know it's serious if it hurts more than a butt cheek on a stick. It took you an hour of reassurance and hugs to calm the young heiress down.

Letting a small smile break out, you huffed, "There's a bit of soreness but I'll live. It scarred a bit but I plan on covering it with a tattoo."

Bernadette's gaze shited toward the multiple books randomly scattered around your room, "It seems like someone loves studying." she smiled.

You grumbled, "Not me, I hate books but I hate studying more."

"Then why do you study all the time? And your room, it's almost like a library." She tilted her head to the side.

"I study because I don't want to go through these trivial things when I'm older. I want to cram in as much knowledge as possible so I can spend my teen years in total and utter bliss." You smiled. Since you've already spent your childhood in your old world, you don't need to ack like a child and play with dolls or whatever small children do.

There was a bit of silence when the woman frowned a bit, "What about your father? Has he visited you at all?"

You hummed, "The usual, still depressed and drunk." Ever since your mother's death, he's been cooped up in his office, drinking and or working. Not even once has he ever visited you, despite having different colored hair and eyes, you looked exactly like your mother, it was driving him mad.

"It's getting dark... would the two of you like to stay the night?"

"I appreciate the offer but I must decline, tomorrow is earl Hanbrige's son, Andrew's birthday, so we must start out preparations early. You have met the Hanbriges, yes?" she asked.

"Oh right, I've also got an invitation, so I guess I'll see you there. I've totally forgotten about their existence for a minute there, so thank you for reminding me." you sent a polite smile.

She let out an amused huff, "Please refrain from saying stuff like that in public, Y/n, it will ruin your reputation." She bent down and gently unwrapped Diana's arms and lifted her up, "And don't worry about telling the news of your departure, I'll tell her. Well, goodnight, and truly, thank you." And with that, the two Cavendishes left.

You leaned back on your pillow and grumbled, "Fuck... I need to figure out what gift I should give to that Hanbrige kid..."

Fortunately, your illness got so bad, you couldn't attend the Hanbrige party, but the bad part was, you would need to book a flight to Japan early than intended, which was in 10 hours.

For the first time in almost a year, your father took his job of parenting seriously, ordering every maid and butler to pack everything you might need in a foreign country.

Poor baby Diana was left devastated, one, she feared that she might lose you, like how you lost your mother, and two, she won't be able to visit you without traveling to the other side of the world.

~•••~

It's been almost a year science you moved to Japan to treat your illness and throughout this time, you were forbidden to leave the damn hospital. Traveling to Japan and touring around the cities was one of your biggest dreams, this place was the motherland of the things you loved most, anime and manga. But cruel, cluer fate decided to be a bitch and made you bedridden, locked you up in an accursed hospital like some damn animal. You even asked your father to hire a tutor to teach you Japanese.

But at least the people here are nice, there's an old granny next door that always comes by to make small chats and share the goodies her kids made for her when visiting, her name is Kagari Himiko, you call her Kagari-san. She was like the grandmother you've always wanted, caring, nice, doesn't yell at you for not being born a man, and definitely doesn't blame you for everything then went wrong in her life. She is just like a very sweet old raisin that the angels have sent down from heaven.

Her family is also very nice and kindhearted people. There's her son, Akira, her daughter-in-law, Akiko, and her granddaughter, Atsuko, dough you haven't met her just yet. But judging from her parents and grandmother, she's just as sweet and adorable.
