No matter where or when you are, schools and classes will never be fun. That's just facts and if there's anyone who defies it, then they're just lying, they just have a crush on the teacher is all.
"There Luna Runes are the ancient character system used by witches long ago. They are a type of segmental script." With a swing of a wand, multiple glowing phases of the moon appeared on the blackboard. "Is there anyone in the class who can read the letters on the board?"
Dead silence filled the room as all the students avoided eye contact with the teacher except for two others. It was you and Diana.
Before raising her hand, she nudged you with her shoulder in an attempt to make you do the same. You know everything there is to know about the curriculum, and she knows too. She also knows that you know that she knows about you knowing everything.
But you didn't budge, you won't raise your hand or answer anyone unless the teacher specifically asks for you to answer.
Sighing, Diana raised her hand and flawlessly translated the runes. She obviously got praised for it. You pat her heat head and ruffle her hair, "Awe, my baby's all grown up. Look at you getting praised and all."
She swatted your hand away and fixed her hair, "You would've gotten the same treatment you know, why didn't you raise your hand? You're far more knowledgeable than me."
You merely shrugged, "I don't know what you're talking about my dear. This humble fool only has the memory of a goldfish." This isn't a lie, for the life of you, cannot remember people's names. It took you 6 months to remember the names of your rowing club teammates and mind you, there were only 8 girls in your team, alone. And 3 years to remember all the club members which were 36 kids.
"Don't play dumb, I remember getting taught the same exact things by you when we were younger." At this point, she was just lecturing you about underestimating yourself and how it can be really toxic and stuff.
You have no idea how the two of you didn't get caught by the teacher, but oh well.
The next class was... interesting. The fumes that filled the classroom were intoxicating, it was like getting high but with an Uno reverse card. Before you could get "high", or low, to be precise, you quickly cast a spell to block out the green fog. And being the considerate person that you are, you didn't get rid of the fume, you just made sure that you and Diana didn't get affected.
"Couldn't you just get rid of it entirely?" Diana asks, she was busy writing down notes to look at you.
"I could, but why would I do that?" You looked around your surroundings and chuckled after seeing most of the students try to cover their noses or just start uncontrollably gagging, 'It's fun to see others suffer.'
The rest of the class continued on, nothing really happened. It was finally lunch and you were more than happily made your way towards the cafeteria.
Once you've got your food, you were about to go look for Diana and her group but a familiar head of hair caught your eye.
"I don't get it! I thought magic classes were supposed to be fun and exciting! But instead, they were all boring. How am I supposed to learn if I'm being bored to death!?" Akko angrilly ate her food. "Nothing like how I imagined-"
"Then how did you imagine it?" You stood behind her, tray on hand.
Her head shot towards your direction and her eyes widened as a thin layer of tears covered it. She jumped up from her chair and tackled you in a tight hug, "Y/N!!! Is that really you? You're so tall and pretty now!"
You could practically see stars in her eyes as she looked up at you, "And you look exactly the same. Cute and small, like an adorable little bunny rabbit." you pinched her cheek as she pouted.
"I'm not small! I'm average-sized, you're the one who's freakishly tall!" She protested, flailing her hands in anger.
You ignored her and turned to her two silent teammates. "I'm Y/n Mcrae, but please, call me Y/n." you introduced yourself to the two and extended your hand for a handshake.
The ginger-haired girl quickly shook your hand, "My name's Lotte Jannson. It's a pleasure to meet you, Y/n."
The gloomy-looking girl just said her name and continued to eat her lunch "Sucy Manbavaran."
"Y/n, don't ignore me!" Akko pouted and puffed out her cheeks. "I can't believe you're treating your childhood friend like this, you meanie." She crossed her arms, "And here I thought that we could learn magic together like Shiny Chariot did."
"Shiny Chariot's magic is frowned upon at Luna Nova. She's a disappointment."
'Like me.' You tried hard not to laugh at your own joke. But then again, you are a joke.
"Miss Kagari, isn't that right? You're new here, aren't you?" Diana questioned, her eyes quickly flicked over to you before setting in on the girl.
"Kaw meh Aghkho-'' She quickly chewed her food and swallowed, "Just call me Akko, you're the one who read the letters in class, aren't you? "
Diana folded her arms behind her back and introduced herself, "My name is Diana Cavendish and the one sitting next to you is-"
Akko smiled and interrupted her, "Oh, I know. Me and Y/n are childhood friends. We've known each other for a long time."
No one noticed but Diana's expression darkened a bit, but before she could open her mouth, Hannah scoffed from behind her, "You really don't know who Diana is and you still have the audacity to act all buddy-buddy with Y/n?"
Barbara joined in with a smug expression, "If you've been actually living under a rock, here's some news for you: It's been said that they're the best up and coming witches in the whole history of Luna Nova." Hannah then continued, "And not to mention both of them are from long lines of nobility and the descendants of two Nine Olde Witches."
"In any case, I'll impart some friendly advice to you, no one here respects Chariot, so stop thinking of her as a role model, she's a has-been." It was kinda sad hearing her talk so lowly of her role model. You could still see that small cabbage head talking so eagerly about how she wants to be a performer like her idol.
"That's not true at all, Shiny Chariot has fans all over the world, her magic show was super popular." Akko loudly defended.
"I'll admit, the show that she put on was incredibly popular for a time, but really, her shows were just a series of cheap parlor tricks that were inevitably doomed to fail. It's been ten years since Chariot quit her show and disappeared into the shadows, and it doesn't even seem like anyone really cares about whatever it is she's doing now." Diana and her teammates turned around and started to walk away.
Akko quickly stood up, "I care, Chariot helped show me what I really wanted to be, I have to find her, so I can give her back the Shiny Rod."
Diana raises a skeptical brow, "The Shiny Rod, huh. If you truly have the staff, then why won't you prove it?"
"Oh boy..." You could feel a migraine coming up as you massage your head. 'Is it because they're too hormonal, they act like this? Or is it that hard to just accept the fact that people have their own beliefs and opinions?'
