♧ 28: The Right Thing ♣
"Well, here we are," Montey tells me as he opens the door to the spare room on the second floor of Beatz.
In all honesty, I had no idea there even was a second floor to his store. I've spent so much time either in the back room or rearranging displays that I never really got a chance to explore. So, when Montey opens the door, I have no idea what to expect.
I step inside the small room and am immediately greeted with a twin sized bed off to the corner. To the left of the bed is a small nightstand. On the opposite side of the room is another door, which could either lead to a closet or some other dimension. The room isn't in the best condition, the walls are cracked in some areas and the carpet is slightly stained, but it's still a hundred times better than spending the night on the streets.
I walk over to the bed and throw my backpack on top as I turn to look back at Montey, who still looks like he is ready to pass out. I can't help but feel bad for waking him up in the middle of the night to come get me. But, like I had hoped, he said he was more than happy to help me out.
"Thank you again," I say, sitting down on the bed. I immediately feel the springs bounce and for a second I think the bed is going to collapse. When it doesn't I let out a deep breath.
I never feared for my life on a bed at One Directions flat.
I mentally slap myself for even thinking about that. The moment I stepped out of the flat, I told myself that it was for the best and I still believe it. I caused a lot of trouble for those people, more than I want to be accountable for, and what happened between Niall and I was the tipping point.
I had no choice.
Montey nods as he points to the door on the opposite side of the room. "That's a bathroom and if you need anything else, just call. I'm in a complex a couple blocks away."
I nod. "Really, Monety, thank you."
"Of course, Maddy," Montey replies. "Are you okay, though?"
Am I okay? That's really the last question I want to be asked right now. I have no idea what to make of my situation. Part of me is miserable that I finally got to see what it feels like to kiss Niall Horan, but the other part of me is happy that I did. How can I be happy that I just possibly ruined someones relationship? There is nothing attractive about being The Other Woman. Nothing.
"I will be," I answer as best as I can.
"Mind if I ask something?" Montey asks. I nod. "Did something happen with that Horan boy?"
I feel my breath catch. How could Montey even come to that conclusion? Is it written on my face? Is it so easy to tell what I'm thinking? Is it so obvious that I'm broken?
However, I can't answer. I don't want to.
In my silence, Montey continues, "I know it's none of my business, but just know, that if it's meant to be, it'll happen. It might not seem that way in the beginning, but life has it's way of working out for the best in the end."
I let Montey's words float around in the air for a while before I let them sink in. If he's right, does that mean Montey actually believes that there is a way for Niall and I to be together in the end? Did I make the wrong choice by leaving?
No, no. That's not right.
How can Montey possibly know if my decision was right or wrong? How can he know if thing'll work out? He doesn't know what happened, and if he did, I highly doubt he would be supporting me in this. How could anyone root for someone who knowingly kissed a boy with a girlfriend? It's just not right.
