5: Breaking and Entering

I push myself deeper into the soft cushions of the leather couch as I wait for Niall to come back down from his room. He just got home fifteen minutes ago and promised me that we'll leave as soon as possible. So, with my work clothes back on and my ripped backpack on my lap, I sit patiently.

Awaiting my doom.

Or my relief.

Depending on how quick I can get rid of Niall, the better everything will turn out for me. The sooner I get away, the sooner I will be able to breathe properly.

"So," Zayn says as he plops down on the couch next to me, tucking his leg underneath himself so he can face me. "Niall coming down soon?"

"I sure hope so," I say, a bit too excited.

Zayn caught it and raised a brow. "A bit happy to be leaving us, are we?"

"Well, no, I just- it's just," I stutter. "I just need to get home. Feed my cat."

Cat? What the hell, Maddy? I don't even have a cat! When do the lies stop?

"Cat, huh?"

"Well, no, I don't have a cat," I admit. "I just really need to get going, that's all."

Zayn nods his head, not upset that I just lied about my fake cat. "Well, Niall should be down in a few. Have you seen his tux?"

I shook my head. "No, it was wrapped up when he brought it in. Have you?"

"Oh, yeah," He says trying to stifle a laugh.

"That bad?" I ask sadly.

"Worse," Zayn says vaguely. "That's what he gets for inviting Trinity. Thank god, I'm going Stag or else I could end up like Niall. Like hell I'll dress like a leprechaun."

"The suits green?"

Zayn nods sadly. "Bright green."

I can just picture it. Green suit, four leaf clovers everywhere, matching green hat, a brown pipe, and if Niall really wanted to get into character, he can carry around a pint of beer the whole night. I want to laugh but I can't help but feel sorry for Niall. I mean, I'm surprised Trinity didn't make Niall slip into one of her famous bikini's.

"Wow, can't wait to see the pictures of that outfit," I say laughing.

"I'll post them myself."

"That is if Louis doesn't beat you to it," I counter with a laugh. "So, where's everyone else?"

Zayn shrugs. "I'm not sure. Out probably."

I nod my head slowly. Ever since we returned home from shopping, I tried my best to avoid Zayn at all costs. Throughout the whole car ride he kept quiet, thinking to himself, occasionally glancing my way. Maybe I under estimated him. Does he have any idea what's going on with me? I don't know and I don't plan on finding out, which is why, up until now, this is the first time he talked to me one on one.

I couldn't cling to Paige forever.

"Oh, nice," I say, still a bit sad that I won't get to say goodbye to the boys and Paige.

"So," Zayn says leaning back. "When are you picking up your dress?"

"Um, I'm not sure. Whenever I guess," I say, biting my lower lip nervously.

Zayn nods his head, clearly thinking something over. "Mind if I ask you something?"

My heart stops and my pulse quickens. What does Zayn want to ask me? As much as I'm dying to know what's going on in his head, I would much rather just stay in the dark. I don't want to know what he's thinking because what if it's the truth? What if he figured everything out? He saw the food and he was watching my every move at the store. Did he put two and two together?
