15: The Girl In The Red Dress

"You guys, we really don't have to do this," Liam complains.

The boys are all in the living room, attempting to persuade Liam to get out of the house. Considering it is his birthday and all. Everyone decided that it'd be best if Liam spent his day with the boys and just the boys. So, that meant no girlfriends and for some reason that included me. I think it's because I don't fall under the 'boy's' or the 'Girlfriends' categories. But I'm not complaining. Or I am, but whatever. I'd rather stay in with Paige anyways.

"Yes, we do," Louis insists, tugging on Liam's sleeve. "It's your birthday, you should spend it out."

"Yeah, now, come on," Zayn says getting up from is spot on the couch.

"I just don't feel like celebrating," Liam says in a monotone voice.

"Well, too bad!" Paige says as she reaches forward, grabbing Liam's other hand as she and Louis pull him to the front door.

Everyone follows them out, catching Niall's eye as he passes me. I quickly avert my gaze, not wanting to give Niall the chance to strike up a conversation. As Niall is out of the room, I make my way to the front door, finding a spot next to Zayn, who is looking at me with a sad smile. He probably caught sight of that little moment. Does he ever miss something?

"We just want you to have fun on your birthday," Paige says as she pulls Liam into a hug.

Liam gives her a small squeeze before dropping his hands. "Thanks, but I don't need to go out for a good time."

"Well, you need to get out, mate," Harry says patting Liam on the back.

"And," I add. "There is a high chance that you can buy yourself all the chocolate you can eat."

Liam perks up a little at that thought. At least now he looks like he's considering stepping out.

"And you need to show everyone that you're fine," Paige adds. "Do you want the media to blow the break-up way out of proportion?"

That's true. The break-up has already set off numerous articles in newspapers and blogs all over the world. Directioners everywhere are in tears at the thought that Payzer is no more. But, if media hears that Liam is in a depressed state, especially staying in on his nineteenth birthday, you can be sure that the media will be all over that.

And luckily, Liam recognizes that.

"You're right," Liam sighs. "Fine, I'll go."

"That's our Liam!" Louis cheers.

"It'll be awesome!"

"Birthday Bash!"

"Let's get a move on then, shall we?"

Everyone agrees with Niall and Louis drags Liam out before he has a chance to back out. Next out the door is Zayn, followed by Harry, who is quickly stopped by Paige. She brings him into a hug and kisses him briefly before saying,

"Make sure he has fun, okay?"

Harry smiles and puts his lips to her forehead. "That's the plan, love."

And with that he's out the door.

Niall turns to me and Paige, waving as his gives us a toothy grin. "Don't wait up for us."

"We won't," Paige reassures him. "Just make sure Louis doesn't do anything illegal."

"I'll keep an eye on him. See ya you guys later," He says.

"Bye, Niall," Paige waves.

Niall hesitates at the door, as if waiting to see if I'll say anything. I wasn't planning on it, until he looks over his shoulder, our eyes locking for the second time today. I can almost see the confusion and hurt pooled into his blue eyes, making me feel guilty.
