Mayalean sat, like always, in the locker room— waiting on Mako and Bolin to get there.

The girl was whistling happily from her spot on top of the table, swinging her legs back and forth and patiently waiting for the door to open. When it did, she saw Mako approach, already in his uniform but without the helmet.

He walked up to the table and stood in front of her, then turned around, so his back was facing her. "Get on," he motioned to his back. "I gotta find Pabu."

Mayalean wrapped her arms around his neck, while he hooked his arms under her legs to hoist the girl up on his back. "What happened to Pabu?" She questioned him quietly, her soft whisper blowing air lightly onto his ear.

Mako shivered at this, mentally hoping she hadn't noticed the blush that formed on his cheeks. The boy cleared his throat, "uh.. I don't know," he said honestly, "Bolin was freaking out. Said that he ran down the hallway."

The girl frowned at this, holding his shoulder a little bit tighter. "Well, where there's food— there's Pabu," she giggled glancing around the hallway outside of the locker rooms for any sign of the small creature.

Mako adjusted his hand that was holding the air-bender under her knee, feeling the bracelet roll a little bit under the grasp. "Oh, I forgot," he said looking at it for a moment. "I didn't give you your bracelet back."

"That's okay," Mayalean said cheerfully. "You needed it last night, and I couldn't make it."

He smiled at the thought, thinking about how he felt that sense of emptiness the previous match. It was only the bracelet that reminded him, that somewhere, Mayalean was cheering him on.

"Hold on," he said, as he removed his hand from her leg— Mayalean strategically holding herself up so her feet wouldn't touch the floor. In one swift motion he slipped the crystal off, and placed it around the wrist of her hand that was crossed in front of him.

She smiled at the gesture, shrinking into herself in embarrassment. "But, Mako," she whispered. "You're just gonna need to wear it again tonight."

"And then you can give it to me again, tonight," he answered, holding her properly once more.

The girl wasn't sure why her stomach was twisting in knots, or why her face burned like she had been sitting in front of a campfire. But, before she could decipher the feeling, a flash of orange caught her attention, right by the trash can. "Pabu!" She exclaimed in realization, pointing to where she had seen the fire ferret.
