Sometimes the best way to solve your own problems is to help someone else.Once again, Tenzin and Mayalean tried to get Korra to successfully complete the spinning gates. She had a look of fierce determination, and the air-bender girl felt like this might finally be the time she makes it through.
But that thought was extinguished quickly as Korra ran straight into a board, grunting in pain. "Patience, Korra," Tenzin advices from beside his daughter, who was trying to hide her embarrassed face behind her hands.
It didn't get much better. Korra kept hitting boards, and, in her own frustration, decided to fire-bend, lighting them all ablaze.
Every air-bender had a wide-eyed look on their face, shocked to have seen what they just witnessed. Tenzin grew angry at the now ruined gates. "That was a two-thousand-year-old historical treasure! What ... What is wrong with you?!" He questioned.
Mayalean took a deep breath, to compose herself, and placed a reassuring hand on her father's shoulder. "Dad," she said surely, "we can fix it."
Korra couldn't calm down like her friend, however, stomping up to where they stood with an annoyed face. "There's nothing wrong with me! I've been practicing just like you taught me, but it isn't sinking in, okay? It hasn't clicked like you said it would!"
"It takes time!" Mayalean jumped in, to ease the tension. "This is a completely different bending style then you're used too— it's gonna take some time to happen."
Tenzin nodded in agreement. "She's right," he concurs. "This isn't something you can force. If you would only listen to me—"
"I have been! But you know what I think? Maybe the problem isn't me! Maybe the reason I haven't learned airbending yet is because you're a terrible teacher!"
As Korra stormed off, the sisters went to comfort their father who was taken back by her words.
Meelo doesn't get the hint, enjoying his own, child-like banter. "Yeah! You're a terrible teacher, Daddy!" He chimes.
Mayalean rolled her eyes, giving her father a hug, just like her sisters. "Don't worry," she told him kindly. "She just doesn't get it yet, and she's frustrated."
Tenzin looked at his oldest daughter, glancing to the tattoo plastered proudly on her forehead. He had to have done something right— his efforts can't be all for nothing.
Releasing from the embrace, Mayalean gave him a bright smile. "I'm gonna make sure that Korra is okay," she informs him, and he nodded in agreement.
