A few days had passed since I became keeper of the runners and yesterday we got let into the maze for the first time! It was my plan to stay in pairs, Minho and Ben, me and Newt, and then George stayed back. Today it's me who's staying behind, although... the boys didn't know that yet.

"Good morning greenie!" Me and Newt now had a thing where we would wake each other up, regardless of if we were still in bed or getting changed or already on our way out. We were best friends.
"Nooooooo... let me go back to sleeeeeeeeeppp!" I moaned and held my stomach as a cramp passed through it.
"Are you not coming running with me today?" He said. He hadn't looked at me yet so he didn't see that I was in pain.
"No Newt, I need the day of- OW! SHUCKING HELL MATE!" I clutched my stomach, not prepared for this level of pain. At this Newt looked at me, and rushed over, panicking.
"Bloody hell greenie! Are you alright!?"
"Yes Newt. I'm perfectly fine." I said sarcastically. I bit down on my knuckle as a third cramp passed through it.
"Maybe I should stay with you today, you know, look after you?" He asked.

"No Newt, you need to be partners with Minho in the maze today. I can still sort you shanks out I just can't run. Anyway I gotta sort myself out first. I'll be at the doors before you all leave ok?"
He nodded and left me to it. The pain eased a little as I stood up and went to my bathroom. I picked up a tampon, used it, then got dressed. I decided to wear a baby pink crop-top and some baby blue shorts. Wow these people love to give me pastel coloured clothes. I realised.

I then grabbed a hoodie that I stole off Minho, and slipped it over my head. It was even bigger than Newts. I headed out to wait for the boys by the door, still clutching my stomach.
"You shanks ready?" I asked them as they approached me.
"Yes shorty I think we are." Minho replied and stuck out his tongue.
I stuck mine out too " Minho you're running with Newt, George you're running with Ben. Minho and Newt, I want you to make a left and then a right since me and Newt made a left and then another left. Try and find something ok? Remember to stop and have your snacks when it says 12:00 pm on your watches, then start heading back." I turned to the other two as Minho and Newt jogged off into the maze. "George and Ben, take my watch, don't lose it! I want you two to take a right and then a left since yesterday you took two rights ok?" They nodded
"Got it boss!" George said.
"Off you go shanks!" I shooed them off into the maze.

"Hey Alby! I'm going to see if I can get back to sleep for a bit! Is that okay?" I asked
"Yes of course (Y/N)! Come and get something to eat first though." He replied.
I wandered over to Fry and grabbed my food then sat down next to Alby.
"Do you want me to do any jobs around the glade?"
"No (Y/N), it's fine I don't want you pushing yourself too hard."
"Yes I'm in pain, but not completely helpless!" I told him slightly irritated.
"Hmmm... well, you can always help me in the council hall, now that Newt is running the maze, I will need to appoint a new second in command for when he's not here. Any suggestions?"
"What about Gally? He's pretty smart, and good at using common sense." I told him.
"But we're all good at using common sense?" He looked at me confused.

"Not by a girls standards." I retorted.
"Ok. Gally! Can you come over here for a second?" He gestured for Gally to sit opposite me and him.
"What do you need Alby?"
"While Newt is in the maze, I will need another second in command. Greenie here says that you'd be the best pick. Is she right?" He asked Gally.
"Y-yes! What do you need me to do Alby?" Gally sounded really excited.
I looked over at one of the gardeners tables as Alby told Gally what he needed to do. I spotted James.
"I can do that for you Alb-" I cut Gally off

"I'm gonna go and see how James is." I told them as I stood up and walked over.
"Hey James! How're ya' feeling today? Sorry I didn't get a chance to ask you yesterday."
"Oh I'm feeling fine now (Y/N)! Clint and Jeff just told me to lay off the running for a while." He giggled, I joined in. We sat in silence for a while before another cramp gripped my stomach and I groaned and hit my head on the table.
"(Y/N)! Are you okay!?" He asked shocked at what I had just done.
"I'm as fine as I can be during a period James." I told him through clenched teeth, "I'm going to Clint and Jeff to see if they have any pain killers. Holy shuck I hope they do."

"Hey girlie!" I got my usual welcome from Clint, and a 'hey greenie' from Jeff.
"Do either of you have pain killers??" I was silently praying that they did. They didn't.
"Sorry greenie, we don't get that luxury."
"Shittt!" I didn't even care I didn't use the gladers terms, this one hurt.
"I'm really sorry we can't help more girlie."
"I'm... gonna go and try to sleep this off," I waved Clint and Jeff goodbye and walked out and went to my hut. I fell asleep quite quickly, but oh hell I would regret that.

✨Nightmare✨

I was drowning. Water clogged at the back of my throat, I recognised this feeling from the box when I first woke up. 'Chuck... Chuck! Shit Chuck! I hope he's ok, I still have about two minutes left of air before it becomes unbearable and I'll pass out.'
"Well done Thomas, I can't believe you managed to get (Y/N) away from Chuck." It was that female voice again, the one I hated.
"Thank you Ava. It took a while, I'm sorry for that. But why (Y/N)? Why my sister?"
"Because you, Newt, and Chuck are the closest to her. Newt is already up in the maze and Chuck is too young, you were our only option at getting close to her." Ava explained.
"But that still doesn't explain why you need h-" he was cut off by a high pitched scream.
"(Y/N) NO!" A new voice: It was Chuck. He'd spotted me in one of the tanks. I screamed, no words came. Instead I got a mouthful of water.

"Woah! Woah! Woah! Greenie are you okay? You scared the entire glade!" It was Alby.
I sat up, startled at his sudden appearance. "Alby... I just had the worst nightmare... I'm not going back to sleep."
"Cant blame you (Y/N). Let me guess, you were drowning?"
I nodded, "Chuck was there too... and a boy... and a woman called Ava." I started to tear up at the fact that my brother had helped them get us all in here.
"Hey... hey... shh... it's okay... do you want a hug?" I nodded again. He came onto the bed and hugged me. I felt really weak, and helpless. I wanted Newt. "Hey, how about you take your mind off it and help Gally design a tower for the middle of the glade?" I agreed and he unraveled himself from my shoulders, and got up.
