[•] The next day [•]

Running the glade is more stressful than I thought. Sheesh. Of course Newt helped me, but he could only do so much. Now that Alby has been stung and was still unconscious, I was the leader for now. It definitely kept me busy.

Guess what? Thomas had taken Zart, Gally, Minho and Fry into the maze to dissect his Griever pancake. Now I had to deal with that too.

"Keepers meeting, now." I said to the keepers who were eating dinner. "Tommy, Minho, you're both coming too." They looked at each other before getting up and walking with the rest of us over to the council hall.

"What's this about girlie?" Clint asked.

"I have had some complaints about Thomas breaking the rules. Twice. Minho, you're taking my spot as keeper of the runners until Alby is back on form. Thomas, you have to keep your shuck mouth shut until you're asked a question. Sit over there," I pointed to a chair near the back. Thomas gave Minho a quick kiss on the forehead as if to say 'congrats on getting promoted!' Then sat down.

"Okay, we have to discuss Thomas's punishment for breaking our number one rule." I saw Minho open his mouth in complaint but I gave him a glare that told him to shut his pie-hole. I wasn't in the mood.

"I agree, can I suggest something?" It was Winston, he had taken a disliking to my brother ever since he had arrived because he's the one that the stung kept seeing. He's been stung too, he would know.

"Go ahead."

"I say we banish him."

"Excuse me!?" Minho stood up and marched over to Winston and pointed a finger in his face. "If you don't recall Winston, Thomas here, saved our leader. So if you ever suggest something like that again-"

"But guess what Minho? Alby is in a shucking bed, unable to lead, because he got stung.
(Y/N), has had to take over before the entire glade goes to klunk. Oh, and trust me when I say this, I've experienced it too, Alby will not want to do anything after the shit he sees during the changing. So, (Y/N) here, will have a lot of pressure on her for a long time. That is why I'm trying to help her by making valid suggestions-"

"Shut up!" I shouted. "Both of you!"

They both looked back at me and muttered a sorry.

"Give me five minutes, be back here. Don't any of you dare be any longer than that. Newt, stay." I ran my fingers through my hair, I was stressed. After everyone left, a silent shuffle in a single file line. All except for Thomas and Minho taking up the rear, holding hands. I was so glad they finally got together.

"What's wrong love?" I felt familiar arms snake around my waist and pull me towards him, breaking my staring competition with the door.

I turned to face him. My hands on his chest. "I don't know if I can do this Newt. All this pressure. It's crushing me, I don't know how Alby did it." I said as my fingers fiddled with the bits of short hair at the back of his head.

"He had me love. I've been busy with stuff Zart has needed, but that ends tomorrow and I can become your full-time second in command." Both his hands were placed on the small of my back in a very comforting manner.

I stood on my tip-toes so that I could kiss him and I felt the pressure on my back move down to under my legs and then before I knew it I was looking down to Newt, "I'm sorry to break it to you Mr. Romantic but, the other gladers will be back in here soon so, oh, I don't know maybe put me back down?" I was playing with the long bits of hair that fell onto his face.

"You started it you know that right?" He gave me another quick peck on the lips before putting me back down so I can address the gladers again.

"Okay, so we're going to have a vote. I'll go around each keeper until we have a final decision. Vote for either Winston's idea of banishing Thomas or Minho's and make him a runner. Jack, which one."

"I'm going with Winston's idea, sorry Minho but he broke our rules." Jack got a very angry glare from Minho.

"Gally, choose."

"I'm going with Minho's idea, he saved Alby for shuck sake." This went on for a while, most agreed on Minho's idea, but I had to make sure that everyone was happy.

"Okay, one night in the pit, no food." I said.

"Oh come on (Y/N), just because he's your brother doesn't mean he should get special treatment! He needs to be banished!" I held up a hand to Minho to tell him that I had the Winston situation under control.

"No."

"What do you mean 'no'?" Winston repeated me.

"I mean no. Do you wanna hear it in Spanish? Noh! He's not getting banished Winston! If he did, he'd probably survive the night again. He's done it once doesn't mean he can't do it again. No point."

That definitely shut him up. He mumbled to himself a little before I shot him a glare and he completely shut up.

"Now, Minho, you were there with Tommy. After he's been in the pit, what should we do with him?" I asked Minho, I knew it would be a little bit biased, but he was the only other conscious person with him that night.

"I say we make him a runner." This sparked many complaints.

"A runner?"

"Minho let's not jump the gun here,"

"I agree."

"No way!"

"Shut up! I feel so bad for Alby 'cause he has to deal with this all the bloody time!" I shouted. "Now, Tommy. One night in the pit no food, and then starting tomorrow, you're a runner. Good that?"

"Good that." I got in return from almost everyone.

"Wow." Winston started to walk out. But fry reached out to him, "Nah Fry."

"Winston wait." He stopped at the door. "We still need to discuss the thing we found inside the Griever." Minho said.

"No. Do it without me." Winston sulked and walked out.

"Okay, right. Show and tell." Min took something out of his pack and handed it to Newt.

"What do you think it is?" He said as he handed it to me. I inspected it very carefully. It looked like some sort of device that had antenna coming from the top.

"Wait, it's branded by the same people that we get our supplies from." I noticed.

"Yeah, and this is the first thing, the first anything you've found in three years, right Minho?" Tommy said, I nodded.

"Why does it have the number seven on it?" Newt asked.

"Could the Griever have been from section seven?" I replied.

"It could. That's what me and-" Tommy got cut off by the greenie alarm.
