I'll Be Okay

When I walk into the kitchen both heads turn towards me. Owen nods his head at me and Charlie grabs my stuff and makes his way to me. "Here sis, take your stuff back, and I'll allow you to hang out with Savannah only if you promise you won't date her." "Really!?!" "Yes, now I have to leave but have fun with Owen and I still expect you to get at least 5 hours of school work done." "I will, bye Charles!" "Bye Sydney," Charlie says as he walks out the door. "Okay, he'll be gone until 7:30, Savannah doesn't have rehearsal today. It's 8:30 right now, you have about 10 and a half hours until Charlie is back. Go hang out with Savannah, I'll tell him we watched movies all day while you did your schoolwork. Take your laptop with you and let me know when you get there so I know you made it safely."

     "Thanks, O, you're seriously the best." "I know, now get outta here kiddo. Stay safe, love you, Syd." "I will and I love you too O. Bye!" I say grabbing my stuff along with my car keys and heading out the door. I unlock my phone and pull up Savannah's number. I call her and after the first ring, she answers. "Hey, beau- I mean Sydney," Savannah says. "Sav? Were you about to call me beautiful?" "Uhh, maybe..." "Aw, you should've, anyways, I'm on my way over, I'm ungrounded, Owen talked some sense into Charlie." "Ooo yay, when you get here, just walk in, it'll be unlocked. I'm gonna take a quick shower."

      "Okay, I'm about to get in my car so I'll see you in about 10 minutes," I say. "Okay, see you then beautiful! Can't wait!" Savannah says before hanging up. I get in my car and start driving. When I finally get there, it's 9:00. Stupid traffic. I park my car and get out and walk to the door. I remember Savannah saying to just walk in so that's what I do. I walk in and walk to Savannah's room, I walk in and sit on her bed. Savannah walks out of the bathroom fully dressed and comes and sits next to me. "Hey," she says to me. "Hi," I say. She gives me a hug and we sit back on the bed. She turns the tv on and asks me, "What do you wanna watch?" "I'm thinking Charmed, the newer one. How about you?" "Let's watch Charmed. I love that show!" Savannah says. She turns it on and we watch it. We get to episode 2 and I see that Charlie is in it. As I watch it, my jaw drops.

      "Charlie didn't tell me about this! Omg!" "You didn't know he was in this?" Savannah asks. "No, he didn't tell me and I guess I could see why." "Oh," she says. "Yeah," I say. We finish watching a few more episodes before I get my MacBook to get some homework done. I start working on my schoolwork when I get a call. I look at the caller ID and see that it's Charlie. I tell Savannah to be quiet and answer the call. "Hey, Char, what's up?" I ask. "Hey, I wanted to call to check-in, how's it going?" "It's going alright, listen, Charlie, I'm really busy right now, can I call you back later?" "Oh, yeah, of course. Love you, sis!" "Love you too," I say before hanging up. Savannah and I break out into laughter. We stop laughing as our eyes meet.

      Savannah starts to lean in so I do the same. Our lips meet. I feel a bunch of sparks as our lips move perfectly in sync together. We pull away and are breathless. I could feel butterflies erupting in my stomach. Savannah looks at me and says, "Sorry, I uh, I don't know what came over me just now." "Don't apologize Sav, I enjoyed the kiss," I say as she pulls me impossibly closer and kisses me again. The kids deepens. I climb over Savannah so that I'm straddling her. Savannah's hands travel up and down my spine before slipping in between my back and my flannel. I pull away quickly. "I'm sorry, I can't. I'm not ready. I'm sorry," I say.

      "Hey, hey, hey, don't be sorry. It's okay, we can go as slow as you want okay?" I nod my head. Savannah takes my hands in hers and urges me to look at her. "Sydney, I've been head over heels in love with you since the day we met. I had kept my feelings inside because I knew you weren't ready but I think now, I can finally ask you this one question. Will you Sydney Elizabeth Gillespie be my girlfriend?" "Yes!!!" Savannah pulls me in for a kiss and we smile into the kiss. We pull away and stare into each other's eyes for a minute before I get back to doing my school work. I work for an hour before deciding to go home so I can be there before Charlie gets home. I pack up my stuff into my backpack and Savannah walks me out to my car. I think for once in my life, I'll be okay. I kiss Savannah goodbye before getting in my car. I start to drive away and wave bye to Savannah as I pass by her.

      She waves back to me. I make it out of the parking lot and am on my way home. 10 minutes later, I reach the apartment. I park and get out. I take the elevator up to our floor and unlock the apartment door. Owen is standing in the kitchen with a piece of pizza in his hand. He pauses and looks at me. "I kinda got hungry so I stole the leftover pizza," Owen says. "Chill your role, I wasn't saying anything," I say laughing. Owen joins in on the laughter and asks, "So how'd it go with Savannah?" I sigh happily as I replay the events of today in my head. "So good, she asked me to be her girlfriend... And we kissed..." "OMG!!! I'm so happy for you," Owen says jumping up and down. I walk over and jump on the counter. "I'm so happy for once in my life Owen, I have never felt the way I do right now. It's a new feeling for me and I can't help but want more." "Ahh, omg!" I smile and hop down off the counter. I grab a yogurt and spoon and head into the living room to eat it while working on my schoolwork.
