Six Feet Under

*Savannah's POV*

My eyes travel to the love of my life. I give Sydney a small smile and she gives me one back. She goes to stand up but then she starts falling. Charlie is quick to his feet to catch her. "She feels very light. Savannah? When was the last time she ate?" Charlie asks. I just stand there, unable to speak as I try to get the words out but nothing comes out. My heart rate speeds up as I look at her unconscious body. "I-I-I... A proper meal was about 2 weeks ago. I told her she needed to eat..."

      I looked over at Owen who was on the phone with 911 I'd assume. Charlie looks at me and notices the tears brimming my eyes. "I'm so sorry Charlie... I tried so hard to get her to eat..." I cried out. Jeremy comes over and holds me in his arms. "Shh, Sav, it's not your fault okay? You tried to get her to eat," Jeremy reassures me. "An ambulance will be here in a couple of minutes, let's bring her downstairs," Owen says walking back over to us. Charlie picks her up and carries her out the door.

     I stand there frozen as tears brim my eyes. "C'mon Sav, let's head downstairs," Jeremy says grabbing my hand and bringing me over to the door. We walk out with the others following close behind us. We get into the elevator and get downstairs just in time for the ambulance to arrive. Charlie nods towards me as if to tell me to go with her. I nod my head as I climb in and sit down beside Sydney's lifeless body.

      The paramedics attach an oxygen mask to her. The ambulance starts moving and we are on our way to the hospital. I look at Sydney and bring my hands to my mouth. I did this... I could've helped her but I just didn't... Why couldn't I help her... We get to the hospital and get out of the van. They run inside with me trailing close behind. They push her through doors and I try to get through but a doctor pushes me back and says, "I'm sorry miss but beyond this point is for doctors and patients only."

     I nod my head and walk over to the waiting area. Soon after, the rest of our group comes running in. "How's she doing?" Charlie asks. I shrug my shoulders and say, "It's not looking too good..." Charlie nods his head and wraps his arms around me. "I'm so sorry Sav... I know you really love her... If she makes it out of here, I'll let you two be together... I'm sorry about how I acted. I was just scared... I know that's not an excuse but she's my baby sister and I didn't want anything to happen to her..." Charlie says.

     "I know Char, you care about her but so do I... I never knew what love was before I met her. The word love was never said in my family so I never knew what love was. Love is when you think about them every moment of every day. Love is a feeling, a deep sense of affection you have for someone. And that's how I feel with Sydney..." "Wow Sav..." "Yeah... I can't lose her Charlie... I just can't..." "I know Sav, with any luck, she'll be okay..."
