Blight leads me into the bakery's kitchen, her eagerness evident. I grab a chair from the front and pull it inside, collapsing into it. Blight sits on the floor in front of me, like a little child awaiting a story. "Spill." She demands, waiting expectantly.
"What do you want to know?" I sigh, preparing for how she might respond.
"Everything."
"You're gonna need to narrow it down a little bit, Schlatt expects me back in an hour."
She stays silent a moment, debating what memory to ask about. "Tell me about when we first met."
Oh boy... that's a big one to start out with. Let's hope this goes well.
"What do you remember about it?"
"I remember sitting in front of a house and seeing you in the woods nearby. That's about it."
Ok, so she basically doesn't know anything. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing remains to be seen.
"Alright, I'll tell you what happened." She leans forward, and I hear the faint rustle of her flowers pressing against each other. Her void, white eyes seem to show excitement, though it's hard to tell.
I take a deep breath and begin my story.
"Well, the day I found you I had been sent out to the woods in order to investigate some strange things Dream had been finding. Do you remember who Dream is?"
She thinks for a moment. "Maybe? Is he the one with the bandana?"
"No, that's Sapnap. Dream is basically the leader of the SMP, where we are now. He wears a mask with a creepy-ass smiley face on it."
"Oh, gotcha."
"Yeah, Dream was my-" I hesitate at the word I was planning on using, opting to use a different one. "He was my boss. He told me to go investigate the woods, look for any sign of a person living in them. I found footprints, empty bottles, discarded supplies. You were a pretty messy person."
__________________________I lean against the doorway, waiting impatiently for Dream to acknowledge my presence. I watch him lean over his brewing stand, adding the ingredients with practiced precision. A faint bubbling can be heard as the ingredients react with each other. The concoction threatens to pour over, but Dream is too focused to really care.
After it becomes apparent that he won't be noticing me anytime soon, I roll my eyes. "Dreamie, what the hell did you call me here for?"
He jumps, clearly startled by my presence. "F*ck-! You can't just sneak up on me like that! Also, don't call me Dreamie, it's weird."
"Right, I forgot Gogy was the only one allowed to say that."
"HE DOESN'T-"
"Shut up about your boyfriend and tell me what I need to do."
Dream grimaces, clearly frustrated by my comment, but decides to move on. "Can you do me a favor?"
"Why the hell would I do anything for you?"
"Because we're friends? And it's the nice thing to do?"
"Tell me what sh*t you need done, then I'll decide if it's worth my time."
