"Your bedroom is amazing" Ginny let out in awe as she entered the room which was filled with posters and unique decorations.
It had been an event full day already. On their way home to Maxine, they had gone past Blue farm cafe only to see Ginny's mother — the one who Marcus sold weed to — sitting by the window, on what looked like a date with none other than the mayor.
"I know" Max responded assertively as she and Amelia jumped into the bed, making themselves comfortable.
"You're supposed to say thank you" Amelia let
out as she hit her arm slightly."Ouch!" She responded with a chuckle as she laid her head down on Amelia's lap before letting out, "Just kidding, you're weak"
"Oh, hey, this is cute," Ginny said as she laid her backpack down, noticing a jacket hanging over her chair.
"Try it on" Max answered with a small smile.
Ginny grabbed the jacket happily and had it on as she went over to the mirror to see how she looked.
"It suits you" Amelia complimented as she looked at her through the mirror. She smiled at her as a form of thank you, and she smiled back.
"Yeah, it looks way better on you than it ever did me, you should keep it" Max offered casually.
"Seriously?" Ginny asked in a slightly shocked tone as she turned around to look at her.
"Yeah, one hundo percent" She responded. Ginny didn't say anything else about it, but one could see the appreciation on her face. "Anyway, I cannot believe how much English homework we have.
It is only our first day""And, that's why I'm not taking AP English this year" Amelia let out with a relieved sigh. She had their teacher last year and he was too insufferable for her to handle.
"Mr. Gitten is such an asshole. I might change English class myself" Ginny complained.
"No, you can't leave me suffering in the class with that power-hungry-monster alone. He's a total troll beneath the bridge" Max groaned causing the two other girls to laugh at her insult.
After that, they asked Ginny about different things to get to know her better. She started to rant about all kinds of things from her never getting kissed to how her mother named her and her brother after the places they were born, all her mother's previous relationships, and how much she hated them. When the conversation was done, they all decided to study.
"Do you two want a soda? Cause my blood needs sugar and chemicals to focus" Max asked as she got up from the bed and started to head to the door.
"Sure" Ginny smiled while Amelia nodded.
"Where's the bathroom by the way?""Down the hall to the left"
Ginny got up and out of the room too, leaving only Amelia left. She got up from the bed, sitting on the window sill, and watched the street as she waited for the two of them to come back.
"Are you stalking me now, Amelia?" A voice let out causing her eyes to move from out the window onto the source of the sound. Leaning on the door frame was Marcus with a slick look on his face.
"Oh, please...you only say that because you're jealous that Max gets to spend more time with me than you do" She snapped back with a playful tone.
He kept quiet, standing there simply staring at her. But, there it was again, that look. It was the same type as the one he had on his face the day before. It irked her that she couldn't figure out what it meant.
He entered the room, walking directly towards her slowly and steadily. His gaze didn't leave her eyes ones and the intensity of it caused her to look everywhere but on him. As he was standing right in front of her he squatted down so they were face to face, they got direct eye contact.
Her breathing picked up at how nervous she was, of how close he was. She couldn't help but study his face. Her eyes flickered down to his parted lips which looked so soft, then up into his light brown eyes, then back down to his lips.
He leaned even closer leaving around four centimeters in between the two of them. They'd never been so close before. She felt a tingling sensation in the pit of her stomach. She felt like doing something she might regret later.
He glanced down her face, before he looked into her eyes again and a small smile made its way onto his lips. She furrowed her eyebrows before he pulled out a bag of weed from behind one of the pillows on the window sill, a full-blown smirk now dancing on his lips.
"Good hiding spot" She breathed out with an amused smile on her lips. She might have looked calm on the outside, pretending that what just happened didn't, but, on the inside, she was freaking out.
"I know" He replied smoothly, his eyes flickering down onto her lips one more time subtly.
"Marcus, get out, it's my turn to hang out with Amelia" Max groaned in frustration as she walked into the room causing him to stand up and turn around. That's when she noticed what was in his hand. "Why is that in my room?"
"No one checks your room"
"Gross. Get help. Also, can you please leave? We're trying to study" Max asked but both Marcus and she knew it was more like an order.
His eyes landed back on her and he saluted her before he strolled out of the room, leaving her
alone to wonder what the fuck just happened."I swear, next time we're locking the door"
Ginny came back and both she and Maxine took up their laptops, starting on their English homework. Amelia however was too distracted to even think of taking out her things to do anything.
Her head turned instinctively back towards the window only to see Marcus getting into a car with Padma, and she couldn't help but feel a pit in her stomach.
