The school day was the longest ever and when it finally was done she couldn't wait to get back home and avoid everyone.
She practically ran out of that hallway and to the front of the school when yet again somebody called for her.
"Babe! Where do you think you're going?" Peter yelled.
She threw her head back in annoyance, why couldn't she be left alone, just for a day?
She turned around, her lips turned upwards "I just feel like walking today! But, FaceTime later tonight?...yeah, great, see you!"
She turned back around abruptly but before she could take another step he took hold of her hand and spun her back around.
"You're funny," He said with a straight face, opening the car door on the passenger side "Get in"
She sat down in the car like he said, not having the energy to argue or explain why she all of a sudden had a desperate need to walk. She exhaled deeply, trying to seem as little tense as possible, still her eyes on the road, refusing to meet his.
The car ride to her house was completely silent and when he had parked outside she mustered up the strength to look him in the eyes to say goodbye as she removed her seatbelt, but before she could — "Can I seriously ask you what's been wrong with you today?"
She sighed. "I told you, I was just afraid you got disappointed I didn't show up yesterday"
"No, no, there's something else Amelia. You ignored my texts too, and today after I told you that you didn't have to worry about it you still ignored me at lunch. My friends laughed at me because they noticed you were zoning out at everything I said"
"I'm sorry, it wasn't on purpose, I'm just tired okay?" She said, reaching out to touch his hand comfortingly but pulling it away as remorse swept over her body. "I got to go now"
As she opened the door to get out she felt his hand pressed harshly around her arm, pulling her back down, then being met by a serious look on his face. "Hey, talk to me!"
Her eyes landed on his hand and traveled up to him again, a frown on her lips. "Really? Let me go, Peter"
But, he didn't budge.
"Come on, it hurts"
He finally released his hard grip around her, an apologetic smile on his lips as he leaned back, rubbing his hand on his forehead. Then, he leaned in and pecked her cheek before uttering "Sorry, didn't mean to grip you that hard, just wanted you to explain"
"Yeah, well I explained already" She answered, getting out of the car before he got the chance to continue. "See you tomorrow"

Amelia was lying on her stomach in bed, her English notebook three pages full of random scribbles. She was trying to not think of the day before. Of those mesmerizing brown eyes. She brushed her fingers on her lips, those soft lips on hers.
Her eyes widened in realization, grimacing and kicking her feet to try and get rid of the thoughts. She shouldn't be having those thoughts about her best friend. Better yet, she shouldn't have those thoughts when in a relationship. She turned so she was lying on her back.
But, she didn't kiss him. She left when he kissed her! So, really how bad of her was it?
She got up from the bed, went over to her drawer, and put away freshly washed clothes to further distract herself. That's when she heard the sound of her window sliding further up and saw a figure climbing in from the corner of her eye.
She felt her stomach twisting into knots, not daring to turn around and look at him. "What are you doing here?"
He didn't answer her question strolling over to beside her and picking up one of her books from the top of her drawer. He turned the pages quickly before he laid it back down. "Do you really like him? Peter?"
