Marcus had searched every classroom, every hallway, and the gymnasium after Amelia but he couldn't find her anywhere. Usually if looking for someone and not finding them anywhere, he would give up, but this was her, and so he had to find her.
He sent her a message asking where she was but she didn't respond leaving him a bit more worried. He thought of all the places that were left for her to be and came up with two reasonable options, outside or home.
And, so, he walked out from the high school and that was when he saw her, laying on the grass by the parking lot, her head gazing up at the sky.
He made his way over to her and sat down beside her, not saying a word as his eyes traveled down to her face. Her hair was spread out on the grass, under her eyes there were traces of her make-up after crying and she looked numb but still, she managed to look breathtaking. Although he would never say that out loud.
"The sky is so beautiful, look at all those stars" Amelia spoke out gently as she pointed her hand lazily up at the sky, a happy smile on her face.
Marcus let out a small laugh, still, his eyes not following her pointed finger but staying on her.
He noticed she was shivering. "Are you cold?"She nodded slightly as her attention finally landed on him. He dragged off his hoodie leaving him in only a t-shirt as he handed it to her.
"But, now you'll be cold," She said shaking her head adorably as she tried handing it back to him.
"I'll be fine" He smiled weakly as he refused to take it back. After a few seconds of her being hesitant, she finally took it over her head and it instantly made her warmer as it stretched down to her knees because it was so big on her.
"Come here" He breathed out as he made room in between his legs for her to sit. She chuckled as she made her way over to him, laying down on his chest as he wrapped his hands around her.
"You know, when we die we'll become one of those stars, floating around in space and watching those on earth that comes after us" She slurred out peacefully, occasionally peaking up at him.
"Do you think we'll be next to each other?" He joked as he put one of his hands up to her hair, stroking it gently.
"I hope so" She responded in more of a whisper than in a usual tone.
Everything turned quiet for a minute and Amelia was once again reminded of what had happened in the locker room causing her mood to shift again.
"I had tried to hide it from him, my dad dying, it wasn't something I was comfortable talking about" She suddenly blurted out with sorrow in her voice. Now, Peter was going to be asking over and over again if she was ok and it wasn't something she wanted to answer.
"I don't understand why you don't break up with that idiot" Marcus responded with a scoff. He was never fond of Peter and ever since she started seeing him, he'd had something to say about it.
"Why should I?" She asked as she sat a bit up. She knew if he gave her a valid reason right then and there, she'd most likely break up with him on the spot. But, she didn't know if he would do the same with Padma and that was what scared her.
"I just don't understand why you would be together with someone that you're not comfortable telling you're dealing with shit. And, I mean from what I've gathered all he wants to do is take you to his stupid football games" Marcus continued, rolling his eyes as he ran his fingers through his hair. He truly did have a very strong opinion on this.
"You're not wrong" She agreed, starting to feel a bit stressed out over the fact that he was right. As if it were an instinct her hand reached over to the backpack and she took out the vodka bottle.
His eyes moved from her then onto the bottle in her hand and before he even got to think he took it out of her hand. It wasn't good for her to drink anymore that night. "I'll take that"
Instead of getting angry at him she just nodded with a bit of a relieved smile that someone was there to help her make the best decision for herself without making her feel bad about it. "Thank you"
"Look, I think all you need is a distraction" He grinned as he got up to his feet, reaching his hand out for her.
She smiled as she took it and he dragged her up from the ground, putting his hand around her shoulder. "Where are we going?"
"I guess you'll just have to see" He shrugged as he pulled his hood up over her head causing her to almost not see a thing.
He led her back into the school and into the gymnasium where very few people were considering they most likely had grown tired of everything within it and left to do random shit in the hallways and classrooms. In the background, a good song was playing causing her to spin around a couple of times and sing along. "I'm giving up with the make-belief, no one here is being fooled"
"Wow, easy there" Marcus laughed amusingly as he took a hold of her so she wouldn't fall. They stopped outside of the photo booth causing Amelia to raise her eyebrows and try to not laugh.
"So what? The tough, alternative and the too cool for fun Marcus Baker has decided to have a photoshoot?" She remarked as she raised her hand to his hair, messing it up.
"Is that your impression of me?" He questioned with raised eyebrows as he looked down at her.
"Pretty much" She chuckled as she took a hold of his hand, dragging him into the photo booth. Both of them sat down on the bench within it as she pushed the start button.
They did a bunch of silly grimaces for each of the flashes in complete silence before Marcus shook his head and let out. "This is lame"
"Couldn't agree more" She answered with a humorous smile, turning her head towards him as he did the same. And, it only took one glance for the two of them to be caught up in each other, another flash went and then they both leaned in, their lips touching for the first time since Amelia had said they needed to end whatever they were doing.
The last flash went off then everything turned dark and before she knew it she was sitting on his lap, her legs spread out around his stomach. He put his hands on the lower part of her waist causing shivers to run down her spine. The kiss only got deeper and more passionate and for every second Amelia found herself craving more.
