Days go by and time moves on, Darcus and what he considered his friends all graduated and moved on with their lives. Darcus decided to space himself from his other half Marcus and moved out. He needed to figure something out and he had to do it alone. Who was he? Despite the way he acted there were people who were kind to him, he didn't deserve that.
Darcus was pulled out of his thoughts as his phone started buzzing. Darcus pulled his phone out of his pocket to see that he was being spammed with messages. It was rare that he even got texts but what really surprised him was who was texting him.
'Heyyyyy omggggg it's Acrius!! Or uhhh you would have know me by Ray lol'
'Bitch it's been so long lol'
'A lot has happened, idk if you're even alive or still have this number'
'I'm sure I'm the last person you'd want to hear from but idk I'm reaching out to old friends :)'
'Are you in the same town still? I'm here visiting, we should meet up'
He could believe his eyes, someone he thought he had lost contact with was reaching out, and it was the most annoying one of his "friends" from high school.
'How did you get this number?'
';)'
'I'm serious.'
'Anyways you down 2 clown?'
'Sorry I don't speak idiot.'
'You haven't changed a bit :p'
'Lets meet! Coffee shop near the highschool we went to. 3:00pm don't be late!'
Darcus sighed, he really didn't want to meet up but it's not like he had other plans today. As he left his apartment and started walking towards the old coffee shop and went back to reminiscing. He hadn't seen his brother in years, and hadn't heard from him either. Not that he cared, Darcus never found himself to be close to any of his family.
"Hey!!! Over here!!"
Darcus was yet again interrupted from his train in thought by the yelling. He looked around to find himself at the coffee shop already. Must have been on autopilot to get here so quickly. He turned his attention to the obnoxious yelling to see a man with wavy dark hair, dressed in a dark green coat waving wildly at him. Darcus approached him despite all the warning signs.
"Hey! You made it, I'm actually surprised to see I wasn't stood up." Acrius jokes. He took a seat and gestured to Darcus to do the same.
"You've changed" Darcus remarked as he sat down.
"And you haven't. Stuck in time perhaps? We all move on eventually you know, whether we're ready or not." Acrius suddenly shifted into a more serious tone. It caught Darcus off guard.
"Well? You need to tell me something? Or did you just drag me out here to pester me?"
"It's your brother, he turned out to be a real jackass. He's in jail for, well, being a real creep. Jail was a light punishment in my opinion, it's a shame his life ended with him in timeout and not with a knife in his back."
Darcus was just in shock, he couldn't comprehend what he was hearing? Marcus? In jail? He was always such a nice guy but then again maybe it was just an act. No one is free of sin, Darcus knew this too well.
"Anways I go my Acrius now, Ray was a stupid name anways. A lot of our little group fell apart but some people stuck around. Nerdy, who you knew as Sam, is still cool. They have been through Hell and back but hey, haven't we all? There's also Marine and-" Acrius was interrupted when Darcus slammed his hands against the table.
"SHUT UP! JUST! Shut up! How do you keep on talking like this. How can you tell me these things and expect me to just move on with the conversation? This is fucked up, Why would you tell me this?" Darcus couldn't believe what he was hearing. How could this asshole act so casual about this?
"Darcus" Acrius started "It's not like you're associated with him anymore, you cut ties remember? You're your own person you know."
"How did you-"
"It doesn't matter anyways. We've moved on, I needed to let you know so you could move on too."
"But I never told anyone I cut ties-"
Acrius then stood up from his seat and started to walk away, but before he could get far Darcus grabbed his arm.
"Wait. Fwddy and Skye, what happened to them?" Darcus was genuinely curious. Besides from Acrius he was closest to those two but he never felt like he got any conclusion with them before he graduated.
"Who knows? Darcus, we didn't really get to have a proper goodbye. People got busy, drama tore relationships apart, some people just left without saying anything at all. I left with a message of pent up frustration and a weary soul." Acrius looks down at the ground for a moment, as if remembering something unpleasant but quickly goes back to a cheerful expression.
"To quote one of my favorite good good boys, When someone leaves your life, those exits are not made equal. Some are beautiful and poetic and satisfying. Others are abrupt and unfair. But most are just unremarkable, unintentional, clumsy. I'll see you Darcus." And with that Acrius waves a goodbye.
Darcus is left there alone, not knowing what to do with himself he starts heading back home. A lot has changed over the past years, life has moved on without him. Though he felt like he was left behind he knew the only thing he could do was move forward.
