The day for selecting of the food came. I just wore a beige dress that hugs my body with some little flower detail on it partnered with white heels in order to match my newly bought Givenchy white handbag.
By the time I arrived at the place, some of my workers who would also participate in the selection were already there just discussing some random things. They greeted me with respect and said that the food is already ready.
I tried searching for Kiel but I found none so I was quite relieved, wala din iyong kaibigan niyang si Liam which I met last time. Ibang chef ang nagpe-present sa amin kaya naman mas nakapag-focus ako. I really did well in selecting the proper food to be served at the party, my co-worker's ideas were all great and everything was smooth as silk but I was so wrong when I thought na hindi ko na makakasalamuha si Kiel.
When the chef came to discussing the drinks, napansin ko bumukas ang pinto kung nasaan kami ngayon and from there I saw Kiel walking towards us wearing an apologetic smile. Tumigil naman sa pagsasalita ang chef kanina at ini-acknowledge ang pagdating ng may-ari, he introduced Kiel to everyone.
"I'm so sorry for being late, there were just some important things that I really need to settle. My deepest apologies specially to you Ms. Sevilla," he said looking at me na pretty lang na nakaupo.
As usual, women were looking at him with admiration again. Selene even whispered to me how handsome Kiel was even though he was just wearing a simple button-down shirt. Itong sekretarya ko, may halong pagkamalandi!
I looked back at him and just nodded and then told the Chef to continue with where he was already at. I am trying my best to maintain a straight yet pretty face while listening because just like what is planned, all of this should only be business.
Naaninag kong tinaasan naman niya ako ng kilay while smiling at naupo sa bakanteng upuan sa may bandang harap. Mabilis lang na natapos ang Chef sa drinks and moved to the desserts naman. I focused more and even told Selene to jot down notes in case of future use.
We thanked them for the good service at mabilis din namang naka-alis ang ilan sa mga katrabaho ko since they still have some things to work on sa Crowned Scents. I decided to stay a bit with Selene since we have to settle and polish certain things with them. I really acted professional in front of Kiel, ganoon din naman siya in terms of actions but I can see some teasing glances of him which I ignored despite how irritated I was because of that. How can he be that cool ganoong hindi naman masyadong masaya ang huli naming pagkikita?!
Just as we finished with everything, I noticed Selene being all tense while looking at something on her phone. Nagpabalik-balik ang tingin niya sa phone niya at sa akin na para bang mayroon siyang gustong sabihin na sobrang importante so I asked her if she was okay.
"M-ma'am Jade, p-pupwede po bang hindi na muna ako bumalik sa kumpanya? Iyong kapatid ko po kasi nag-text sa akin na sinugod daw si mama sa ospital, hindi ko po alam ang gagawin ko," she said while stopping herself form crying in front of everyone.
I suddenly got worried kaya naman agad akong tumango, in-excuse ko siya at sinamahan sa labas while asking her if I can help with anything. I also offered my car para makarating siya ng mas mabilis doon because booking for a car would demand time.
At first ayaw niya but I insisted at nilapag na sa kamay niya ang susi. Ako nalang ang magbo-book for a car dahil wala naman akong emergency. She thanked me at nagmadali ng magdrive. Tinanaw ko ang daang tinahak niya and hoped na okay lang ang mother niya.
My mom and I are very close and I can't imagine losing her kaya naman noong nalaman ko that it was Selene's mother, I immediately got worried. The look on her face says it all.
