"Hey, hey Jisoo! We have practice later and we miss you. Do you wanna come along and watch?" Seulgi eagerly asks her when she makes herself comfortable in their table.

Jisoo hardens her jaw as she looks at her plate, not sure what to say.

Some of her teammates quickly looked away and started to either eat, talk with their seatmate or focus on something else.

Moonbyul slapped Seulgi's shoulder.

"Dude, if Jisoo wants to go, she will go. She knows our schedule, she's our captain remember?"

"I know, but I miss her ordering us around." she whines as she pouts at the other girl.

"Unnie, you are hopeless sometimes." Jeongyeon scolds her as she shakes her head at their friend.

"Hey, I'm not! I'm just passionate about our leader."

They all groan except for Jisoo, who was quietly eating her food.

"Well, the more important issue here Seulgi unnie, is you being late for practice twice already." Lisa points at her with her fork.

The older girl made a face, "Its only twice, Lisa. Why so serious? Anyway, the more important question here is, why couldn't I be the co-captain? I mean, practice would be way more fun and relaxed."

"That is exactly why you aren't the co-captain." Jeongyeon snickered.

"Yeah, remember when Coach Minzy was shouting at you because you were running like you had muddy boots on?" Moonbyul reminded her.

"That was just one time!"

"Yeah, whatever 'boots'." Jeongyeon said as the rest of the team laughed.

Jisoo continued to eat quietly as the team began to poke fun at Seulgi. She wasn't as grumpy as before, but there was this certain sadness she felt in her that she couldn't quite explain. Now, it was magnified as she realized she couldn't quite get into the inside joke the team had for Seulgi. She used to be a part of that.

In fact, there were a lot of things she felt she wasn't a part of anymore.

She noticed Lisa had sat down and continued to eat along with her as the other people laughed around her.

At that moment, she never felt more grateful for having Lisa in her life. Because for the first time after everything that had happened, she didn't feel so alone anymore.

A few hours later, classes had ended, and thankfully, Jisoo didn't have any tutorials that day since Jennie had a prior engagement with her friends. Still, she was pretty bummed because Lisa and the gang had practice and Soojoo had to help out her dad with some things at the diner, so she had no choice but to go home.

She wondered if it was normal for people to feel a knot in their stomach everytime the thought of going home crossed their minds.

She supposed it wasn't. Her friends had normal family lives, she just managed to get picked in the lottery of who gets to have a fucked up family challenge.

Since nobody could take her home today as everyone was busy with their own thing, she decided to take the bus instead.

It was slow going, and it still annoyed her that people would look at her with pity. But she supposed she felt she would also be the same if she was in their shoes. Humans never understood what someone was going through unless they themselves had experienced it.

As soon as she arrived home, she noticed her grandma was going about in the kitchen muttering something to herself.

When she saw Jisoo enter, she gazed at her sternly, then went to scrubbing the tiles near the sink.
