"Here Jisoo, drink your medicine."
"Jisoo, don't keep moving around. Rest your leg so that it will be stronger when you'll be having your surgery."
"I'll get it for you. Don't get up."
"You have to eat. How will you heal if you skip your meals?"
"I'll help you dress. Yes, I know how you hate feeling like you can't do anything, but let's work together on this okay? This won't last long anyway, you'll get better soon."
"Jisoo."
"Jisoo?"
"Jisoo!"
Jisoo groaned as Irene called out her name for the nth time today. She was being smothered by her older sister since she had arrived, and although she knew that she only meant well, she wished she could have some room to breathe.
"Yes unnie?"
Irene looked up at her as she was ironing some of her clothes and smiled at her gently.
She had insisted that she would do her ironing in Jisoo's room so she could watch over her.
"Go ahead and get ready. Today is your first session for your physical therapy right?"
"Yes."
"Alright, me and Jin will be going with you. I'll just finish this, then we'll head on over there after an hour."
Jisoo sighed, "Okay." she says as she got up from her bed.
She wished her sister would just calm down. Her leg was fine. Yes, there were things that were a challenge to do, but it wasn't 90% of the time.
She went inside her bathroom and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She frowned at her image, the thought of going through therapy was not something she looked forward to.
It only served as a reminder that she was helpless.
It also made her remember what had happened last night when Jihyo and her friends taunted her and even tripped her. Bunch of hypocrites.
She clenched her fists at the thought. She never wanted anything like that to happen again. Ever.
The next time that they were thinking of doing the same thing, she was punching someone and letting them go down with her. The least she could do was show them she was not to be messed with, injured leg or not.
As she continued to think about what happened, she then remembered Jennie and how she did her best to defend her from her other friends.
But the one memory that stuck with her was what Jennie told her when they were sitting on the ground:
They are staring at us Jisoo.
A small smile tugged at her face, it was very thoughtful of Jennie to do that. In a way, it was like her saying that she wasn't alone in this.
She looked down at her sink.
No, she must not get carried away just because she was being nice to her. She had to remember that Jennie was doing this for an A, not for her.
It made her feel sad and she clenched her fists once again.
What was she supposed to be sad about?
The friendship she had with Jennie was already long over. Believing that it was still possible to get that back was like having faith that pigs could fly by tomorrow.
It was all in the past and she had already accepted what had happened.
She had to, she was not doing this again.
