Lisa's house was already loud by the time Jisoo arrived.
That was the first warning.
Lisa's house was always alive in a way Jisoo's apartment usually wasn't, music blaring from somewhere, someone laughing too hard in the kitchen, Lisa yelling from another room, her dad cooking enough to feed a basketball team and a small country. Tonight it was all of that at once.
Jisoo stood outside the door for three seconds, listening to the chaos within, and considered turning around. Then the door flew open and Lisa stood there, grinning like she'd personally orchestrated the universe.
"Captain!"
"Why are you yelling?"
"Because the vibes are vibing."
"That sentence made me want to leave."
Lisa grabbed her wrist before she could retreat. "Too late. You're legally inside now."
"I am literally still on the porch."
"It's still part of our property, so that counts."
Lisa pulled her in carefully, mindful of the bad knee even while being annoying about it. The second Jisoo crossed the threshold, Seulgi spotted her and threw both arms in the air. "She has arrived!"
Jisoo stopped dead. The living room had transformed into something between a celebration and controlled chaos.
Rosé was perched on the arm of the couch, laughing into her cup. Moonbyul leaned against the wall near the snack table, looking quietly amused. Jeongyeon sat on the floor with a plate balanced on one knee, already eating like none of this was unusual. Tzuyu stood near the kitchen entrance, hands wrapped around a bottle of root beer, expression hovering somewhere between overwhelmed and cautiously curious.
Lisa's dad appeared from the kitchen with a platter of chicken. "Oh, Jisoo! Good. Eat. You are too skinny."
Jisoo opened her mouth. Lisa patted her shoulder. "Don't fight him. He has never lost."
"I'm not too skinny."
"You're about to be fed."
Seulgi slid across the floor in her socks and thrust a cup toward Jisoo. "Drink, captain."
Jisoo eyed it. "What is it?"
"Root beer."
"Why did you say it like that?"
Seulgi leaned in, eyes wide and dramatic. "Because tonight, we celebrate."
Jisoo sniffed the cup. "It's soda."
"And yet I am already intoxicated by victory."
Jeongyeon, without looking up from her plate, said, "That's called a sugar high."
"Let me have this."
Lisa grabbed Jisoo's bag and tossed it onto the chair near the door. "Okay, injured captain entrance ceremony."
"No."
"Yes."
"Absolutely not."
Too late. Seulgi had already started a rhythmic clap. Lisa joined in. Rosé laughed, then clapped too. Even Jeongyeon tapped her fingers against her plate, which for her was basically a standing ovation. Jisoo looked at Moonbyul for help. Moonbyul lifted her cup in a silent toast. Traitor.
Lisa tugged Jisoo forward. "Come on. One little dance."
"My knee is injured."
"Perfect. Awkward upper-body dance then."
