MIDDLE SCHOOL
flash back
eleven years old
"I'm really nervous, Chrissy." Fallon whispered as she linked her arms with Chris'. The pair both looked up to the school. It was their first day at middle school and to say they were nervous would be an understatement."We'll be fine." Chris attempted to reassure the girl. He could feel her shaking and he hated knowing that she was so scared. He lightly tapped her hand in order to reassure her.
The pair shared a nervous look before walking into the building. Everyone was rushing past them, if it wasn't for Chris steadying the girl she would have fallen over due to the amount of people running into them.
"I got you." Chris whispered into her ear reassuringly. His hands gripped her bicep tightly as he guided her through the busy hallways.
"It's a shame Naya left this year, other wise she could show us round." Fallon anxiously chuckled. She hated starting new things, something about it made her feel incredibly anxious.
Chris chuckled in response, he couldn't imagine Naya allowing two 6th graders hang around with her and her friends. But he liked the faith that Fallon had in her sister.
"What do you have first?" Chris questioned softly as he peered over her shoulder, looking down at her time table.
"English." Fallon responded.
"Thank the lord, your in my class." Sage announced as she walked over to the duo.
Fallon looked over to Chris nervously, it was the first time they hadn't been in the same class together and it felt weird. Chris placed his hand over the girls shoulders and whispered,
"Good look with the herb." He chuckled. "We have history class together second." He pointed to their time tables.
Sage looked between the two with a clenched jaw, they were always so close. The girl had a crush on Chris, but she knew that she never stood a chance of Fallon was always with them. She needed to get rid of Fallon, she just wasn't sure how.
"Good, I'll see you then." Fallon smiled sweetly.

Fallon rushed towards the history class with Chris, she instantly jumped onto his back and let out a giddy giggle. His hands instantly caught her, he was used to her antics.
"I missed you." Fallon whispered softly into his ear as he gently placed her down and pulled her into his chest for a tight hug. "English was awful how was maths?"
"It was maths." He shrugged leaving out the prt where the teacher had asked him for an answer to a question and he'd been so nervous about answering he'd tipped himself backwards on the chair and made the whole class laugh at him.
The seats didn't have a chart and so Chris slide into the seat next to Fallon trying to ignore the whispers from the other students about them being inseparable. He knew he should probably hang around more with the boys especially if he wanted to get into the sports teams but he also didn't know how to break that to Fallon.
Plus being friends with a girl wasn't all that bad. Everyone said it was worse than what it actually was, sure sometimes she made him sing and dance which was a little embarrassing but also she had the best advice and made him laugh pretty much all the time.
The history teacher was almost in shock to see two people of the opposite sex sat next to each other, even more surprised when they told him that they weren't romantically involved at all.
They were best friends, or at least that's what they told themselves and each other... oh and anyone else who'd listen!
"Today we're learning about the Roman Empire, settle down please." The teacher announced and Chris cockily sat backwards in his chair watching as opposingly Fallon sat forward as if she was actually interested.
"You're a nerd." Chris whispered nudging her side and she sent him a scowl slapping his hand and turned her head back to the front of the class.
~
Overall the day hadn't been too awful, it could have gone better but both Fallon and Chris could've also been shoved into lockers and down toilets so it ultimately could've gone worse.
The relief that flooded both of them when the bell rang was ungodly, both of them practically running to the door to escape the hell hole that they called school.
Chris' mom picked them both up, she could tell that Fallon was a little floored by her day so she offered to buy them both ice cream which despite them feeling older made them both get as excitable as little children.
Lisa watched lovingly as her little boy out his arm around Fallon squeezing her lightly like she used to do to him as he whispered,
"You did so well I'm so proud of you."
As if he hadn't done it himself too.
