Keep Holding On

Chapter 4

While Mer was walking to the clinic, her head was pounding, tears were falling down here face. When she got to the doors of the clinic she quickly wiped her tears and walked in.

While Mer was working in the clinic she got paged 911 to the pit from the Cheif. She quickly ran out and made her way to the pit.

That's when she saw it...

Her mother Ellis was in a bed screaming, "LET GO OF ME!"

That's when Ellis saw Meredith and said, "HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU NOT TO BOTHER ME AT WORK?!" 

Mer stood there in shock while everyone was looking at her. She saw Derek looking at her from a distance. She started hyperventilating and ran to the closest bathroom.

She sat in the bathroom with tears falling down her face, until she heard the door open. She held her mouth trying not to make a noise.

"Meredith are you okay?" said a soft voice.
"Leave me alone Addison," Meredith said in a sad tone. "Derek told me to check on you, he's worried Meredith. He still loves you," Addison said.

"Really? You think he still loves me," she said sarcastically. "He left me I hope you know. He doesn't have any right to check on me. I also hope you know he called me a whore, so I really don't think he loves me," Mer said trying to hold in her tears.

Addison stood there in shock trying to process what she just told her. She quickly walked out and tried to find Derek.

Addison walked down the hall looking for Derek. Then she stop him in the cafeteria eating his lunch.

She walked up to him and hit him in the back of the head.

"Owww," he said. "That's what you get for calling Meredith Grey a whore," she said angerly. He sat there looking down at his food regretting what he said.

"As much as I hate to admit it, you two were in love. You left her Derek, you didn't tell her you had a wife. She told you everything, she opened up to you and you're the one who lied. Then you went and called her a whore? Shame on you Derek, shame on you, " she said  as she walked out of the cafeteria.

He knew that she was right. What was he thinking calling her a whore when he was the one who lied and left her. He ate the rest of his lunch feeling like he was a terrible person.

While Meredith was walking towards her mother's room she heard the Cheif yelling,

"CHARGE TO 300!"
"Cheif," a nurse said "We've shocked her 5 times, she's not waking up. I think you should call it.

The Cheif stood over Ellis' body and said," Time of death, 14:15..."

Meredith stood there staring at her mother's body. The Cheif saw her and gave her a hug. She cried in his arms for what felt like an eternity.

Derek was walking down the hall and saw Meredith walking through the halls looking like a zombie.

"Hey, Meredith I need to talk to you..."
"Leave me alone, I don't need my life to get any worse then it just did," she said staring at the ground.

"What do you mean?" he said confused.
"Well you first left me and called me a whore, and my mom just died. So life seems pretty shitty right about now," she said.

"Meredith I'm sorry," he said feeling guilty. "Stop, stop talking to me. Stop acting like you care one second then the next second acting like you hate me. Your mood swings are giving me whiplash. Leave me alone. Hating you is the most exhausting thing," she said as she walked to her car.

"I need a drink," she said to herself and started to drive to Joe's.
