Keep Holding On

Chapter 14

Dereks heart sank, again.

He quickly jumped out of bed and rushed downstairs. He quickly ran to the kitchen and saw Mer drinking a cup of coffee.

"Morning, you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost," Mer said while taking a sip of coffee.

"Yeah I was uhh," he said before getting cut off by Mer. "You know I can make myself a cup of coffee Derek."

"Yeah, I just worry about you," he said while grabbing a cup of coffee. "Derek I'm fine, I'm on my meds and I'm getting sleep you don't have to worry," she said back to him.

"All I do is worry, I spend every minute of everyday worrying that I'm going to get a phone call that you tried to kill yourself again. That's why I keep you here with me, so just for a little while I would know that you weren't dying like you were dying on that table," Derek said with tears in his eyes.

"I'm right here, I'm okay, we're okay," she said while grabbing his hand with tears falling down her face.

He pulled her in for a hug and felt his shirt get wet from her. 

"I'm sorry I put you through that," she said while bawling her eyes out into his shirt.

"Mer, it's not your fault. You were depressed and you felt all alone, and now you're better," he said while kissing her forehead.

Derek was watching TV when he heard a load noise come from the kitchen. He quickly jumped out of his seat and ran into the kitchen.

Mer was in the floor with blood dripping from her forehead.

"Owww," she said while laughing.

"What the hell happened?" Derek asked while running over.

"I tripped on the rug and fell, then hit my head in the cabinet, I'm so clumsy," she said while laughing.

Derek quickly grabbed a towel and patted it on her head. "Looks like you need stitches."

"Awww man, I'm gonna get my bag. See you soon," she said before Derek grabbed her arm.

"I'm coming with you," he said trying not to show how worried he actually was.

When Mer was brought into the emergency room Bailey walked up to her and said, "Grey what happened? Are you okay?"

"Yes, don't worry. Just a bit clumsy," she replied.

While Mer was waiting for an intern to come up and do her stitches she saw Derek go up to Dr. Bailey. What ever they were talking about looked pretty intense.

She was on her phone when she saw Dr. Bailey, Derek and Dr. Wyatt come up to her.

"Hey how are you feeling Mer?" Dr. Wyatt asked. "Good, but why are you here," she laughed "you aren't an intern."

They all looked down.

"Wait you didn't think that I did this to myself on purpose?" Mer asked.
