Senior year in a new school is the worst. Especially knowing that you're trespassing on another pack's territory.

I'm trying to find my way around my new school, which is crawling with Silent Moon pack members. Whenever I ask someone for help they look me up and down then laugh. Or they give me a fearful look. This has been happening to my family and I for a week now.

“I see you didn't heed my warning." A voice says from behind me. I already know it's that creepy/sexy guy who threatened my family.

“What do you want..." I trail off because I don't know his name.

“Charlie." He finishes for me. “I see that you're lost. Would you like some help?" He asks sarcastically.

“Lost? Pfft! Not me!" I say jokingly.

“Whatever you say..." He's gone before I can beg him for help. The bell rings and the halls become flooded with teenagers once again. It's the end of sixth period and I've only gone to one class, and that was my free period.
Three Weeks Later

I've made one friend. She is known as the family fuck-up, who got herself kicked out of the Silent Moon pack because she broke the beta's heart.

Charlie has been harassing me about leaving every day now and his threats are becoming more and more scary.

I go to the lunchroom with Charlotte. We go to sit at our usual  table but stop in our tracks to see Charlie and his friends sitting there.

They clearly have been waiting for us, based on the way they're staring at us. Well mostly at me. Amusement is written across his beautiful face,“You disregarded my warnings."

“Charlie," I start. “I don't want any trouble."

“I wasn't going to give you any trouble." He says and I visibly relax. Then he says, “About a month ago."

“Will you just leave me alone?" I plead. I look to Charlotte for help but she keeps her eyes on the floor in fear. I look at the beta who is gritting his teeth in silent anger.

“I won't leave you alone until you move."  A look of annoyance falls on his perfect features which just makes him look more hot.

“You should do what he says." A squeaky voice chimes in from behind me. Charlotte is pushed to the ground and my shoulder is bumped hard. I wince as wave of blond hair whips across my face.

I am aware that the entire cafeteria has gone silent and all eyes were on me. I turn back to Charlie who has a girl sitting on his lap.

She has a smug look on her face and she kisses him on the cheek. She snuggles into his shoulder but, Charlie never takes his eyes off mine and I feel a wave of jealousy wash over me. No one touches my- wait what? No, he's not my mate.

My face goes red and I run out of the cafeteria, dragging a mortified Charlotte behind me. This can only be the beginning.

I'm on my way to English when suddenly I'm pulled into a closet. Instinctively I scream, “Charlie Baker, leave me alone!" But the light flips on to reveal a guy I think is in my English class.

“Woah. Why did you drag me into the closet?"

“Charlotte. How is she?" He asks quietly. He's beta of the pack. I find it sweet that he still has feelings for her.

“Why do you care?" I snap. I remember months ago when they confronted us in the cafeteria. When I almost thought of Charlie as my mate.

“Because, I still want her as my mate."
