Venus pulls me into the wreckage of a hallway and into a little alcove. "Sit," they order me. I sit on a chunk of concrete and watch them run their fingers through their short blue hair. The hallway's littered with chunks of concrete from the walls and ceiling, and smashed furniture from the classrooms lies abandoned among the wreckage. "Great," they mutter. "Just my luck. I'm stuck with a criminal while trying to clean up a hallway with brute strength." Shocked at my own actions, I fumble in my robes and pull out my wand. It's a little  battered, but it should still work. I hand it to Venus. "Here," I say. "You have to give it back, but Professor McGonagal probably wouldn't want me to have my wand anyway." They hesitate before taking it. "I don't know how to use it, and honestly, I don't think it'd be a good idea if I tried. I'll keep it safe for you though." They poke the wand through the belt loop on their jeans and start kicking rubble to the sides of the hallway with their feet. I'm shocked. Are they even human? They hate my guts one moment, and then they're nice to me the next? What is going on? I'm still trying to figure out who this mysterious figure is a few minutes later when I see Venus struggling to move a large boulder down the hallway, presumably so it can be deposited outside. Oh, well. I'm bored anyway. I get up and walk over to them, sticking my hand out for my wand. "I can get rid of it for you if you'd like." They stare at me suspiciously. "I'll give it right back," I add hastily. They roll their eyes, bored. "Whatever." They hand over the wand, and I take it. The power is mine! I could overpower them in seconds and I'd be out of here, home free. The words give me pause. What even is home, and would I go back to it if I could? Memories flash before my eyes, and I shrink back, trying to make them go away. I don't even realize I'm disassociating until I feel a hand on mine. I look up, startled, and see Venus staring intently into my eyes. Ew. Creepy. I blink and glance away, realizing I still have the wand in my hand. Quickly, I lift it and utter a spell under my breath. The rock disappears, and I quickly remove the other rocks and rubble from the hallway as well. "Vanishing spell," I mutter shortly by way of explanation as they follow me around with a completely blank face. I'm starting to get the chills. Who are they, and what are they doing here?
