"You," Trelawny says slowly, " are a very deluded little girl. Perhaps I was wrong about you." The tension in the room is so thick you can almost taste it. Everyone is watching her face, waiting for her next move, but then I catch a flicker of hand movement out of the corner of my eye. I dart out of my chair and dive into Trelawny just as her wand slices up, intending to harm Venus. The wand slams into my nose so fast I almost get whiplash. I hear a sharp crack, and the pain I feel next tells me my nose is broken. Trelawny squirms beneath me; I must have knocked her to the ground. Rough hands pull me off of her and I fight them. No way she's getting away. Not on my watch. Dimly, I hear a voice talking to me. "Hey, hey, son. You got her. It's okay." Slowly, my vision clears and I can see Trelawny lying stupefied on the ground, surrounded by witches and wizards. I look down at the strong arms encircling me and twist around to find Sirius staring levelly back at me. Sirius?? And he just called me son! I can't even begin to comprehend what just happened. I really hope Potter saw me save Venus. And speaking of which, are they okay? They better be. I literally broke my nose for them. "Unhand my son, you filthy animal." Son of a bitch. Not my father.

Everything is happening too fast. My father steps out from behind the library's doors and points his wand directly at Sirius. I struggle to break free. Sirius holds me for a moment more, but then he lets me go. "What are you doing here?" I ask, my head spinning from everything that's happening. My father opens his mouth to respond, but he never gets the chance. "Expelliarmus! Stupefy!" My father goes flying and hits the ground with a smack. I snicker. The great Lucius Malfoy disarmed by- "Malfoy! Are you alright?" Potter. "Saint Potter," I manage to get out before he wraps his arms around me and the pain and stress drains from my body. Then I realize where we are. Potter seems to realize at the same moment and steps back awkwardly. The room is dead silent and I want to melt on the spot. I glance at Sirius, and he smirks. My face burns red in embarrassment and I don't even want to know what my father's thinking right now. But suddenly I don't care. I've been denied the right to love the man of my dreams my whole life, and I'm not going to be stopped any longer. I grab Potter by the hand and charge out of the room. I can hear Sirius laughing long after we leave but I don't care. Right now all I want is to be with Potter.
