It's been a few months now that I have spent here. Certainly, the longest I've been in one place. The one that was so open and peaceful that the birds themselves sang about the place. The one I can't imagine myself living in. After enduring such a long life in Exodus, you'd come to have a problem fitting in. That was me for the longest time I've been here.

I normally kept to myself except for when we were partying and they party a lot here, mind you. Though it won't be the kind that we had back in the old world. It could be said as a barbeque and karaoke night now and then. I am, however, in charge of the entertainment. Rimuru had taken it upon himself to request me to teach a few of us music so that we could have a band. So, we do have a side gig of developing a set of musical instruments for that purpose. Delicate and niche work like this was surely not the job for the Dwarves but we could make it work if they can translate the technology well into the world.

Oh, we've recently come up with a name for our city; Tempest, the City of Monsters. The Dwarven Champion, King Gazel Dwargo casually turned up in our part of the forest dragging an ex-minister of his along in a burlap sack saying that he wanted to form a non-aggression pact as well as a Mutual Technology Research Treaty as he called it. I am certain that the Dwarven Kingdom was interested in the manufacturing of the Full Potion that Rimuru was splurging around. As far as I can tell, all of that magical concoction was synthesised by Rimuru's body and I won't say a thing if he wasn't averse to that idea.

That Dwargo guy was way too careless, going around without an escort. It was a "Spirit Possession" but still, a king going into a monster-filled city was a ballsy move. King Dwargo had one of his ex-ministers work here in Tempest as a sign of commitment to their effort in making diplomatic relations with Tempest. Other than the research and development work, Rimuru had Bester teaching the academy with me, by teaching I mean, he was entrusted with the science faculty of the institute.

Right now, due to the low rate of literacy in the city, only a selected few of our citizens could attend his class. We had reached an agreement where Bester would use a physical more practical approach in teaching as we need a skilled workforce for his department. Not everyone desired to learn the science behind Research and Development but without people like Bester, this world would barely have anything called technology. Strangely enough, it was Gabil and his crew who became that faculty's most active students. Speaking of which, that Lizardman suddenly...

'Nyx-sama? Nyx-sama ssu?!' Gobuta called for my attention.

'Huh, what?' I asked, dazed and confused.

'You were telling us the story about the war between Angels and Demons?' said Gobuchi

'Oh right,' I corrected my seat and my glasses and gazed upon the empty book that I had opened for appearance's sake. 'Let's see because the war between Angels and Demons could terraform the world; meaning destroy mountains, dry the sea, burn the forest. The war would predictably only happen every 500 years or so and it is still going on to this day. The Angels never touched the humans, or rather never cared about them. But for us monsters all over the world, we would suffer if we stand out too much. This was why monsters usually tended to live in small, secluded communities in the first place. Subsequently, those who do live in developed countries, often lived under the protection of a Demon lord like where the orcs came from. Which eventually involved them in those wars. This skirmish never had a result since the Angels and Demons were created equal but at always odds with one another. What is it, Gobuta?'

'Won't our city get targeted by the Angels?' he asked, eager to ease his curiosity.

'That's a very good question. Well done, Gobuta,' I said. 'The war will not come until a few hundred years ahead in the future. If you lived that long, you'd know. But this Great Forest earned such a name and had grown to such magnificence because it had never been disturbed. The Angels were afraid of the deity that you goblins worshipped. Storm Dragon Veldora is among the four spiritual beings that self-actualise themselves into this world during its creation. You could argue that Angels could not defy him because he has a similar standing to their creator which is an even more ancient deity called Star King Dragon Veldanava. Now spiritual beings like the True Dragons cannot die, their magicule will only disperse and eventually consolidates themselves yet again. But in the case of Veldanava, he has no other magicule to spare since he had a child with a human and named her. This curse of handing over our magicules to the object of our naming remains the truth for every lifeform in the world to this day and it was, believe it or not, prohibited to give a name to a monster back in the old times.  Hakurou is here, that's all for today. Remember to review your notes about this class because this tale will be asked in your quiz next week.'
