Emi was lying down on the couch facing the back-rest with her eyes-shut, half asleep. Letting Aizawa-who's giving all his attention to the page he's reading-not that he's into it, only for the moment there's nothing else he can do.
For Emi, it has been a long day in school. Her students were doing unexpectedly great as they seem to catch up pretty well with the 2 weeks off. The other teacher's held a small birthday surprise. It was expected, but it was pleasing knowing someone's excited about something you're not quite into. Unlike most people, Emi don't enjoy birthdays so much.
What's to celebrate? She thought.
Aizawa turned a gaze at her with the corner of his eyes. No one in the right mind would spend birthdays in a damn hospital, he thought.
"I suppose you've got other place to be," he uttered casually.
Emi sighed as she turned herself facing the ceiling. "It's only five and It's like I've been all around the world," she uttered exhaustedly. "I'm right where I want to be." Emi hugged the couch affectionately with her cheek rubbing to the backrest. Aizawa smirked.
"I got you something," Aizawa muttered-his eyes locked to the book. Emi sat up with gusto. She may have got a number of presents for the day, but Aizawa? Never in their over 10 years knowing each other did that cold-ass man once give her a birthday gift-or a gift in general without her asking.
Aizawa turned his eyes at her with a soft smile. "Ah, nevermind, someone told me birthday's are just the very day we're born and that we age everyday," he teased, "gifts aren't necessary."
Emi squinted her eyes as she rushed her way to sit on the chair next to his bed. Emi held a hand out to the level of his chest still with her eyes squinted, "Give. Me. Now."
Aizawa chuckled, pulling a green and orange strip wrapped box from under his bed with a hand and place it on top of her open hand. "You're so weird, so much like Itsuki," he mentioned. Emi was too excited to even care on what he said.
Her fingers struggling to find the end of the tape sticking the paper wrap together as she don't want it to rip apart. "You're so complicated, I can rip it with my eyes closed-" Emi cut, deadpan, "No."
'Teaching Methods for Dummies'
Aizawa tried to manage his laughter as Emi's excitement turned down when she read the title of the book he gave. If only she knew how dumb she looks with her eyebrows packed close. Emi turn a sharp stare to Aizawa saying 'Are you serious?' while Aizawa giggled in peace.
"You did not expect me to give anything romantic did you?"
Emi rolled her eyes and sighed-making her way back to the couch, bringing the book with her. As she thought of it Emi uttered, "I think this is very romantic, you're being thoughful," sticking her tongue out teasingly then laid back down on the couch, hugging the book it being as a bolster pillow.
Aizawa rolled his eyes, turning his focus back on the book. That's not the reaction he was looking forward for.
