A/N: Alright, so basically Hiccup meets up with Viggo and Ryker and their men, who serve as an auxiliary force, much like how the Roman Empire had to request the aid of non-Roman citizens to aid them in campaigns, much like the Grimborn's and their men, who aren't Vikings yet still hold a considerable amount of men to aid Hiccup and his armies of Vikings. Also, major character death incoming! Anyway, onwards.

(Hiccup's pov)

When you lose someone you love, the world tends to fade from existence and you find yourself trapped in your mind that is drowning in an abyss of emotions— sorrow, pain, and regret.

I have lost many I've held close to my heart as Blood King— my late wife Heather, my third unborn child that would come from my late wife's womb, close friends, and... and Toothless.

The flight to Greenland had given me time to reflect on my life and when my thoughts turned to Toothless, tears spilled from my eyes and I let out agonizing roars until my throat was far too raw to even form words. Of all my allies and close ones, Toothless was the one who stood by my side since Berk, he and I have done everything together and made a civilization where both our species live together in peace.

But now, my closest friend in the world is dead.

Toothless is dead because I chose to spare Nikora and Eir all those years ago when the Red Maw was engaged in our Persian campaign. Had I ended their lives that day, none of this would have happened.

A mistake I will not make again.

Meatlug began letting out excited growls and Fishlegs turned his head to look me in the eyes. "We're here," he announced while gesturing to Greenland, "what do you wish to do when we land?" I did not answer, the day was gloomy and frigid, not that the cold bothered me, my blood was boiling for a fight and I hungered for the death of our enemies.

"Hiccup, what would you have us do?" Camicazi said firmly, she steered her Flightmare close to Meatlug and continued. "We cannot afford for you to be weak—"

I then turn to Camicazi with a murderous glare; my face burned hot, my teeth bore at her like a rabid animal, and my pupils were thin slits. The sight caused her to hold her breath, the same could be said about Fishlegs. "Call me weak again," I dared her, "am I not allowed to lower myself from the pedestal of power and mourn for the closest friend the gods have blessed me with before you and everyone we knew has acknowledged me as their Blood King?"

"Apologizes," Cami said while lowering her gaze, "I meant no insult—"

"I know what you meant," I growled out, "and your words are well received, but do not mistake my sorrow for weakness. I am not weak!" The sharp tone in my voice caused my companions and their dragons to flinch in fear, I merely growl to myself at order Fishlegs to take us down to where the settlements are located.

The settler's village was massive, the thousands of Scandinavian settlers have ensured their farming community thrives and is suitable for life. Man and dragon were gathered and laid eyes as we descended in the center of their village, the people gathered all knew who I was and they all bowed their heads in greetings. Once Meatlug's paws touched the ground, I slid off the Gronckle and patted her side, and eyed the people who still had their heads bowed. "Please, you may dispense with the pleasantries," I said reassuringly, "I come seeking refuge among you." Lifting their heads, the people gathered looked at each other in confusion.

"You seek refuge among simple farmers and settlers?"

"What has happened back in Denmark?"

"Has... Has something happened?"
