Bani opened the room to let them put Veer on the bed. She took out some clothes from the shelf.

"Tapish bhai, daddyji, aap pehle Veer ke kapde change kar dijiye. Jitna zyaada bheega hoga utna hi sukhne mein time lagega." The wings were drenched.

Bani and others walked out. Balwant and Tapish changed his clothes. They opened the door and Bani came in with a first aid box. The wings were broken and Bani knew that it wasn't something she can do to repair them. She could heal the other wounds on him but she wouldn't be able to heal the wings. Even Veer's own healing power can't heal the wings. Feathers had to grow on their own again.

Bani noticed that they hadn't made Veer wear a shirt.

"Tapish bhai, shirt kyu nahi pehnaayi?" Bani asked, halfway complaining.

"Yeh pankh hai, Bani. Unless he pulls them back in, we can't fit clothes through. It is an odd thing that none of us understand either. When we wear a shirt, there is no issue with opening out wings through the clothes but when it comes to putting clothes over the wings, it isn't the same. It doesn't pass through the clothes. Mat pucho..." Tapish didn't know how to explain that design malfunction. Bani looked at him confused but she decided not to dwell on it. He was unconscious there. The wings almost took up the major space on the bed.

"Shukla ko bulao. Use pata hoga na ki ise kaise heal karna hai..." Bani suggested.

"Use kuch nahi pata hai." Pawan commented, irritated.

"Acha, aap log bhi change karke aa jaao." Bani suggested. Everyone went to their rooms to change. Bani went to the bathroom and changed. Bani looked at the unconscious husband of hers. Bani sat next to him. He seemed a lot thinner. The wings were burnt but in general, he seemed to be in a weak state.

She knew it couldn't go on for long. Two souls in one body is a load that isn't something a body cannot handle. Not even a supernatural creature like cheels can carry that burden. It is nature's law. One body, one soul. Bani touched her forehead and noted that he had a temperature.

"Ramesh kaka, zara ek kapda, aur thoda sa thanda paani le aaoge?" Bani told the servant.

"Ji, Bani bitiya." He nodded. Bani looked at Veer. She could only imagine how much pain he was in. He must be so exhausted with the constant battle. She held his hand.

"Tumhe pata hai na, Veer, main yahan tumhare saath hamesha hun?" She spoke to an unconscious Veer. The pandits at the Naag Mandir used to tell her that the soul never sleeps. It is the body and the mind that sleeps. The soul is always awake and that's why we see dreams. She noted that suddenly his heartbeat was a little faster than usual. His breathing was also a little harder. It didn't go down to normal. She checked the pulse and confirmed that she did feel his heartbeat had been fast for a long time now. That worried her.

She brushed her hair behind her ear and put the cloth over his head to help the fever. Tapish and Balwant came in quickly.

"Veer ko bhukar hai?" Balwant asked.

"I don't think he's well at all. His heartbeat is a little fast, he's having a fever." Bani explained. "He seems weak."

Bani turned to look at Tapish.

"Tapish bhai, I don't know how long the body can take the burden," Bani added.

"Kya matlab?" Balwant asked.

"Daddyji, this isn't normal. Ek body sirf ek soul ko carry kar sakti hai. It is a burden to carry two souls. Tabhi toh itna weak ho gaya hai. Body handle nahi kar paa rahi hai."
