Pre-infection

You walked down the hallways of the laboratory when I finally found room 129. You were working on Substnace 128, but was carrying some documents to the room next door for your coworker, Bunny. Your knocked on the door, and was told to come in.
"Oh! Y/N, what brings you here? Anything you need?" Mimi, one of your coworkers, asked.
"Uhh, no. I came bring these here for Bunny," You said, setting the pile of paper on the table.
"Oh, I see!" She smiled, "So, how's your day been? Family doing well?"
"Yes, family's alright. And day's been fine. How are you?" You asked.
"Wonderful! Our project should be finished by tomorrow. Here, let me show you! He has a fantastic vision, I would know, I was in charge of how his vision would work!" She bragged a little.
"Woah..." you gazed in awe at a tube with a turquoise liquid, and a... thing inside. You couldn't quite understand what he was, but something drew you towards him.
"He's Parasee, what do you think, Y/N?" Mimi told you with pride.
Parasee looked odd, but in a good way. He drew you in.
"He's a genetically modified mix of an octopus and a pig," Mimi explained, "Unfortunately, we don't know what we'll do with him after the 2 weeks of observation have passed. We don't have the funding to keep him here, and no one wants him, not even for free."
"I.."
"What was that, Y/N?"
"I could take him in," you offered. You weren't quite sure why you said that, though.
Mimi's eyes brightened up, "I'll let my boss know right away!" She grabbed your arm, and you both stepped outside, and into the hallway. Mimi ran off to tell her boss they found someone who wanted Parasee, while you turned around, and went into the room 128 to keep working on the substance.
You got home exhausted, and immediately collapsed on your bed, falling asleep instantly. You woke up to texts from Mr.P, the owner of the hospital and laboratory to let you know you were moving projects. From now on, you'd be working on Parasee. You were a bit disappointed to hear this, since you were slightly concerned about substance 128 causing serious side effects, and would've liked to work on it to prevent that. But the disappointment was overwhelmed by a rush of happiness, and suddenly you were fantasizing about Parasee coming to live with you. It was exciting, especially since you didn't have any friends outside of work. You were constantly lonely.
You headed to room 129, went inside and helped get Parasee out of the tube. You were the first person he saw. He already knew how to walk, but he couldn't talk. His vision was extremely sharp, just like Mimi had said. He also really liked to cuddle you, like a lot. He didn't seem to do it to anyone else, however. At first, it was rather gross, since his tentacles were still covered the slimy liquid inside th tube. (I'm barely passing biology, okay?) Once he cleaned himself up, however, it felt a lot nicer. Parasee didn't understand English, and even if he could've he physically wasn't able to talk. Although, that was fine with you.
Mimi, and you were tasked with teaching him how to understand English. It was rather difficult at first, but Parasee was a quick learner. He, impressively, learned English in two weeks. Although, his handwriting was quite bad. It was fine, however. He was rather goofy, and naive, but smart, calm, curios, and kind. He'd constantly made you feel.. different, a mixture of embarrassment, joy and relaxation. You started working overtime for hours at a time just to spend sometime with him. Needless to say, you were extremely excited to take him home.
Unbeknownst to you, Parasee was also rather keen of you, but he didn't quite know what it was. He didn't realize it, but he felt in love with you, just like you fell for him.

Once you two got there, Parasee sat down on your couch in front of the TV. You handed him the remote, and explained how to turn on the TV. Parasee did just that, and went around changing the channels, the volume, and overall experimenting. You giggled, and sat back blushing. Eventually, he stumbled across a romance movie that he enjoyed. He smiled as he saw the two protagonists confess their love for one another. That's when it dawned on him. He picked up a pen, and a notebook on the table, and began writing. You were preparing dinner when he tugged at your arm with one of his tentacles, and used another two to hold the notebook above his head.
"I love you," it had written on it.
"I love you too!" You shouted, and hugged Parasee. He used his four remaining tentacles and his arms, of course, to hug you back.
"Although," you paused for a second, "Maybe it's a little too early for us to be together."
Parasee looked at you confused, and heartbroken.
"Alright," you sighed, "Let's give a go."
He smiled once more, and you finished making dinner. You two already had your first date by the time you both went to bed.
