I was laying on the floor next to Sam as we admired our work. The room was just as I imagined. The bed placed in the middle of the room so that the sunrise could wake me in the morning, a leather chair next to the bed and a wall crowned with plants. It was just perfect. I loved my room back home because it was cozy and looked magical as I had installed fairy lights everywhere, but this room felt more... grownup? I loved it! I broke the silence that had taken place for half an hour and said to Sam:

"You know you are like family to me, right?", as I turned my head to face him.

"Same..." he said with a soft smile.

"Sometimes I feel like an outsider... you know with my American accent and all... but you never treated me differently or mocked my expressions... so thank you Sammy."

"You're my best friend... I love you just the way you are! Even when you say weird things like: "I can't find my pants!" Instead of trousers"laughed Sam.

"Shut up!" I said as I pushed him a little.

My parents were Americans but had to move to England for their work. My mom was pregnant when they moved next to the Holland's. Funniest thing! Nikki was also pregnant with the twins! That's how my mom and Nikki became close. I was born a day after Sam and Harry. They never let me forget that they are exactly 12 hours older than me when it comes to making a decision.
I hate the fact that my parents always travel and leave me because of they're stupid work... but at the same time, without this job... I would've never met my best friends and my second family and... well... Tom.

"Are you excited for this weekend!?" Asked me Sam, snapping me back to reality.

"Huh? Oh yeah! But what exactly are we doing for our birthdays?", I asked as we sat on my new bed.

"Well... it's kind of an important birthday... 22! I mean! Come on!"

"Yeah... damn... time flies...", I said with a sad voice.

"Hey! Cheer up! So Harry and I thought we could go to the restaurant with our families— I mean—", Sam said as he realized why I was a bit sad.

"It's the third year they miss it...", I said as tears started filling my eyes.

"Hey... that's why we are here... remember... leave no man behind?", softly said Sam as he wrapped his arm around me.

"Yea... quoting one of my favourite movie lines won't change how I feel Sam..." I said as I tried faking a smile.

"I bet this will!" He said as he started tickling me, causing me to fall to the ground, dying of laughter.

"Ok! Ok! Ok! Fine! You win!" I say as I tried breathing.

"Good! Now! For the birthday plan. Harry and I thought we could go with the family to a restaurant, do all the cheesy birthday stuff, and then! Tom told us about this super cool club where you can dance till morning. We thought we could go there... what do you think?", said Sam waiting for my approval.

"I'm gonna say.... ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY!", as I hugged him.

"Great! I'm gonna go help mum with supper. I will see you after rommie!", said Sam as he left the room.

"See you later..." I say with a soft voice.

A few minutes later, Tom knocked on the door. I sat on the edge of my bed as he walked in and closed the door. He looked at me for a second, as if he was waiting for me to say something. He sat next to me:

"We need to talk..." he said as he finally looked into my eyes.

"I know..." I said, scared of his next words.
