26. Family

As I walked into the kitchen, I felt tears fill my eyes at the sight of my second family. Laughter had filled the room as they were all chatting together. All my memories of my shared moments with these people came back. The birthdays they had organized for me, our famous football yard competition between Sam, me and Tom, Harry while Dom commented on our games or our famous beach days where we would play for hours and end up looking at the sunset while eating junk food. Looking at them warmed my heart. I loved them so much and I knew that being apart from them would be one of the hardest things but, it would all be better after.

"Hey everyone... can I talk to you?" I say as I came to the table and took a seat at the end.

"Hi sweetie... what's wrong?" Asked me sweetly Nikki as she rested her hand on mine.

"I... ummm... I'm leaving." I said as I wiped away the tears on my cheeks.

"What do you mean dear?" Dom spoke with confusion.

"I'm... I'm not doing really good... and I have to get myself better. My mom and I found a clinic that could help me deal with all my problems. And... my bus is leaving in two hours... my bags are already packed... I'm so sorry..." I sniffed before falling apart.

"It's ok! Hey hey hey... no! Look, all we want is for you to get better... and if you have to go, you have to go... It's ok..." reassured me Nikki as she held me tightly.

"It's true... love, you know you are like a daughter to us... and if you're not alright, and need help, we are going to help you and support you. We love you so much and we want you to be better..." gently said Dom as he rested his grip on my shoulder.

"I'm going to miss you... said Paddy as he rose from his chair to hug me from behind by locking his arms around my neck.

"Me too Pads... but, once I'm back, everything will be better. And we'll go to the beach and have a picnic and stuff our faces with all kinds of crap." I chuckled as tears fell off my cheeks while I was cupping his.

"How long are you going to be gone?" Sobbed Paddy.

"A couple of months..." I sniffed.

"MONTHS?!" Shouted Harry.

"Harry? How long have you been standing there..?" I asked standing up. This was not how I wanted to tell him. Harry may be strong and act tough but, I knew he was soft inside, and I knew my leaving would hurt him. All I wanted was to tell him that I was going to be alright and reassure him. Whenever he was worried, he always got angry and, I didn't want to get into a screaming match. I just wanted to say goodbye to one of my best friends.

"Why are you leaving FOR MONTHS?!" He said confused and angry.

"I need to get help Harry... I'm... I'm not doing ok and... I need to go set myself straight." I said as I walked closer to him.

"Ok. But where are you going and will we still be able to talk or... you'll have to cut us off?" He asked, pulling me into his arms.

"I'm going somewhere in Sussex. It's better if you don't know... I won't be able to talk to you guys as often but... I'll give you news when I can... I promise." I said as I looked at the family I loved.

"We are going to miss you..." Nikki said as we all hugged.

"Me too..." I cried as I was in the arms of the people I loved.

"Hello everyone! Look what I got fo— what's going on...?" Entered Tom as he came from outside.

"Hey..." I weakly saluted as I quickly wiped my tears away. "Tom... can we talk upstairs please..?" I asked as my voice was slightly breaking.

"Sure darling..." he said with worry in his voice and confusion on his face. I looked back at the supporting faces of Dom, Nikki, Pads and Harry.

"It's gonna be ok..." reassured me Harry while rubbing my back as I nodded.

"I love you guys..." I said before leaving them to join Tom in the stairs.

It was time for my last goodbye...
