Domenico's POV:Today had been a long day. There had been problems with the shipments. The Irish were getting bolder each day. I was driving home. It was pouring out, soft classical music filled the silence in my car.
Just as I was taking a turn, I almost hit someone with my car. Looking closer I recognized her, she looked like a mess. What the hell was she doing out when there was a literal storm. She kept running, but she was stumbling. I immediately got out of my car to go after her.
I grabbed her, and she looked me in the eye relaxing when she realized who I was. Her cheeks were rosy and her eyes bloodshot. Her pouty lips were red and purple due to the coldness. I could not tell if those were tears falling or the rain. I could not just leave her out here wandering around the streets, so I took her into my car. She did not protest she seemed to be out of it. I knew if papa saw me bringing her home he would be mad, but mama taught me better.
Her clothes were soaking, and she was curled up into a ball in the passenger seat. I grabbed a blanket that I had in the back seat of my car and gave it to her. I didn't want her to catch a cold. I turned on the heater and drove to my house. I needed to get her warmed up and out of the clothes immediately.
I finally made it to the house. I had parked in the garage. She still seemed out of it, so I went to her side of the car to carry her inside of the house. Once I had her in my arms, she clutched onto my sweater and closed her eyes.
Just my luck I run into papa. His eyes widen when he realizes who I have in my arms.
"Nico, perché cazzo hai la principessa russa tra le braccia." He sighed. "Just please tell me you did not kidnap her." (Translation: why the fuck do you have the Russian princess in your arms.)
"Papa relax I found her in the streets and I couldn't leave her out there when it's raining, mama taught me better." I walked into the living room trying to set her down on the couch, but she wouldn't let go.
"I'll bring your mother to help you out." He left the living room. I was sitting with her in my arms, I couldn't stop myself from admiring her beauty.
"Oh my, come bring her to your room I'll get her changed into something warm. Tell Alyssa to make some chamomile tea." My mother ordered. I walked up the stairs and laid her on my bed reluctantly she let go, she was still asleep. I left my mom alone to change her into some of my sweats and a hoodie.
A little while later my mother came out of the room with a sad expression.
"She has a slight fever she is resting now." I was surprised when she hugged me and I heard her sniffling.
"Ma what is wrong." I furrowed my eyebrows at the sudden change in mood.
"I was changing her and I saw the scars that were littered all over her body. It just broke my heart seeing that." She sobbed. My mama was a very sensitive woman. My mind ran wild at who could have done that. My first thought went to her brothers, maybe that is why she was running. I hugged my mama and asked her to tell Alyssa to bring up the tea and some medicine.
I entered the room and stared at her she was sleeping on my bed. I mean I would be lying if I said I hadn't thought of this moment, but obviously under different circumstances. Alyssa came up with the tea and medicine.
I know I barely knew her, but something in me wanted to protect her from all the evil. Since the day that I saw her in that ball, I became entranced with her. Then at school. I was pissed off that Maddaline had put her hands on her, but Anastasia handled herself well. I, however, made sure to send a message to her to never put her hands on her ever again.
