Lost Soul (Book #1)

11|Time

Adrian's POV:

The hospital room was cold, her body laid there looking lifeless. The tubes connected made my heart clench. The rest of my brothers had stood there looking at her, guilt swarmed their eyes. We all talked to her because the nurse told us that she can hear us. Her body is extremely weak.

I was talking to her pleading with her to wake up. Then all I heard was beeping. Doctors and nurses came in running in.

CODE BLUE

I was frozen, I couldn't move. They were asking us to leave, but I couldn't leave her. I felt Aleksander come to me and helped me out. Powerless.

Weeks have passed and she remained in a coma she managed to flatlined about 4 times in total. These past few days the doctors aren't sure she is going to live. They are advising Adrik to sign a DNR, but we can't just give up on her. I know she is strong.

We all visited her every day, the twins came every day after school and talked to her. Alexei would go every night and would stay to sleep there although Adrik got mad. I came and snuck Salem in every chance I got. Aleksander would be with her in the mornings doing his work. Adrik was immersed in doing god knows what and would come and ask to be with her alone.

After she came out of surgery and the doctor talked to him he changed, he was so busy. He knew more than he was telling us, and Devin was in on it. Octavia would come to comb her hair and just take care of her.

We were all there for her. Her birthday was coming up in a week. I found out it was on November 27th. She should be awake to spend her 17th birthday with us, it would be her first birthday celebration with her real family.

Our dad well he was MIA with Dasha. They did tell us that they were going to be gone for about a year. I will never forgive him for this.

FOUR DAYS UNTIL NOVEMBER 27th:

It was Friday, I had finished my classes early today so I came to the hospital. When I came into the room she looked the same. The room had a vast amount of flowers, she had an octopus stuffed animal that was reversible with a happy and angry face. I remember she had told me that she thought it was cool when I showed her what online shopping was, but she never got it. I wanted her to see it when she woke up.

It was times like these when I wondered if she would wake up. I didn't like having these negative thoughts, but it's been a month since she's been like this.

I took out my laptop to finish up some homework. I don't really need to go to college, but Adrik and Aleksander went they both majored in business to take over Dad's businesses. I decided not to follow into their steps, I wanted nothing to do with the business world so I majored in Philosophy. That doesn't mean I don't do my fair share in the Russian Mafia. I am the best sniper that they have, I train in my free time.

I was too consumed with the work that I didn't hear the door being opened.

"Still here?" The voice said and it belonged to Alexei that meant that it was already late in the night.  Sometimes I forget that Alexei is younger than me.

"Mhmm seems like I lost track of time."

"We have a meeting soon to discuss the stupid ball, I think they are holding it in New York this year." He sat down. The meeting is the Mafia Ball it is held every year in December, with no weapons or anything we are civilized with each other one day out the year. 

"I am not going if she's not awake," I said, there was no point in going especially because we would be in another state.

"Me either, but if she were awake I don't think Adrik would bring her and expose her to all those perverts." Alexei grimaced, even though it was a Mafia Ball no Mafia business was discussed. However, there were some people there who would use the Ana as a way to try and bring us down.

"Well, goodnight call if anything happens," I told him and packed up my things. I bend down to give Ana a kiss goodnight when I was met with her vibrant eyes fluttering open.

"Ana" I whispered in disbelief.
