Well... everyone does but Eddie...
(This takes place a week or two after the last episode that came out this week, so Buddie isn't a thing yet, and Eddie is still dating Ana Flores (Christopher's old teacher))
Eddie's POV
Ana and I are on our 5th date; it has been going pretty well except for Christopher's whole incident. We are sitting at the bar talking and learning more about each other.
"So, where is Christopher tonight?" Ana asks, turning to face me after getting her third drink from the bartender.
"He is at home with Buck," I respond. Buck has been taking care of Christopher when I am not able to. We have started working opposite shifts, so at least one of us can be home with him since Abuela has been in Cabo.
"Of course he is. I don't even know why I ask anymore," she responds, joking though I hear a hint of something else.
"Yeah, Buck has been amazing, Christopher, and I couldn't do it without him. He is so selfless; it's crazy I have never met anyone like him. He even offered to watch Chris tonight after his 12-hour shift for me," I say sincerely.
"I know you talk about him all the time," she says plainly, looking down at her drink.
"Is everything ok?" I ask, noticing her sudden switch in tone.
Then there is a sudden silence as she swirls the drink with the small straw, deep in thought, contemplating something.
"No," she finally states, looking up at me; our eyes meet. She has a blank expression that has almost a tinge of sadness in it.
"I can't do this. I am not going to be that girl," she says, her face now turning to a look of determination.
"What do you mean? What girl?" I question very confusedly.
"All you have talked about is Buck for the past 4 dates, every single story everything you said about your life or Christopher mentions him. When Christopher was in my class last year, all he would talk about is Buck and how much he loves Buck. You do the same thing-"
Since when did talking about my best friend become such an issue? I can't help that most of my stories have to do with him; we are together 24/7.
"-and at first, I just thought you two were just really close, and that was it, but I have seen the way you look at each other. I am not stupid, Eddie, and I am not going to be that girl. The girl that sits there clueless with a guy who is clearly in love with someone else. I am not going to waste my time on someone who is already taken. Whether you admit it or not, you have already found your person. I deserve to find that. Please stop wasting you and I's time; we both know how precious it is, and Christopher deserves to have his family." she finishes.
Before I can respond, she gets up, patting me on my shoulder giving me a sad smile. She then walks out, leaving me there gaping awkwardly, wondering what the heck just happened.
Then a few minutes later, after finishing my drink, I sit in the uber, staring out the window, thinking about what she said.

Buck's POV
I just finished putting Christopher down for bed when I heard a jingle of keys and the front door closing. I walk out of Christopher's room to see Eddie walking in the door heading towards the fridge.
"Christopher and I left you some dinner," I say, sitting at the bar.
"I figured you would be hungry like you usually are at this time of night."
Eddie smiles down at the floor then starts shaking his head, laughing to himself.
I look around me and back at him, very confused as to how that is funny. Is he drunk?
"Are you drunk? What are you laughing about?" I ask.
Eddie looks up, giving the most loving look he has ever given me. An eruption of butterflies explodes in my stomach, along with a feeling of longing. Leaning back, startled, I furrow my eyebrows at him confused and concerned, trying not to dwell on the feeling.
I am baffled about what is going on; why is he so happy? Is he high? What is going on? I thought his date ended early, and why is he looking at me like that?
"I just realized how selfish and blind I have been," he states, walking slowly over to me.
"What are you talking about?" I ask.
Then he does the last thing I thought he would. He kisses me. I just kind of sit there shocked when he pulls back with a look of worry.
"Sorry, I-" before he can say anything, I grab his neck, bringing him back into a kiss. He tastes just how I imagined... like home.
I feel him smile, walking up between the counter and me closing the distance between us. Breaking apart, our foreheads still touching our eyes closed, we stand there breathing in each other's air, soaking in the warm comfort of the moment.
Hey, guys, sorry if this one kind of sucks and doesn't feel planned out; it's because it wasn't. I just felt like writing, so I did even though I literally had no idea what to write about. I hope you have been enjoying the one-shots. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on fics to make also if you want more domestic Buddie scenes or a bit more heated. I have been trying to stay in the middle but would be open to either. - Xoxo
