(This is based after Season 4 Episode 8)

"I don't know, Maddie; just because the baby is a girl doesn't mean you still can't name it Buck," Buck suggests chuckling as he sets down the groceries on the counter.

"Haha, very funny. Thanks again for helping me get groceries Chimney is finally putting together the furniture for the baby, and I didn't want to distract him," Maddie says, sitting down on the couch taking out the clothes from the bags.

"No problem," Buck replies, chuckling, putting the last of the food away in the fridge.

Buck goes and sits down next to Maddie on the couch, setting out the rest of the stuff he bought for his new niece. He couldn't wait to meet her and spoil her rotten (not that he wasn't already).

"All this stuff is adorable, and I love it, but you have to stop buying her stuff. She is only going to fit into these clothes for a few months," Maddie pleads.

"Oh please, you love it. Tell me this is not the cutest outfit," Buck says, holding up a onesie that has 'my uncle loves me more than tacos' on it with matching taco leggings.

Maddie rolls her eyes, trying to suppress a smile but failing miserably.

He smiles, going back to folding looking through all the stuff he bought.

"Enough of the baby talk; how are you and that one girl doing?" Maddie asks to turn to face Buck leaning back on the couch.

Buck's face drops at the thought, "fine," he says shortly and goes back to silently folding the last of the clothes.

"Oh, no trouble in paradise? I thought you two just got together?" Maddie states, confused.

"We did about a month ago, and no, there is no trouble," Buck assures her giving her a small smile that doesn't reach his eyes.

Maddie glares at him, "don't even start with that bs I am your sister I know when something is wrong, and you have been more off than normal for the past week. What is wrong? Talk to me," Maddie says, sitting up looking questioningly in Buck's eyes.

Buck glances at her raising her eyebrows. He huffs, looking down at his feet.

"It's not working," Buck states, flinging his arms in the air exasperated.

Maddie's eyebrows scrunch, "what do you mean? What isn't working?" she asks.

Buck sighs, "I thought that it would get easier..."

"I thought that if I was in my own relationship, I wouldn't be as jealous or even maybe get over these feelings," he explains, looking at the fireplace.

While he's never said it, Maddie knew who he was talking about it. Though they never blatantly talked about it, she knew of his feelings; it was clear as day to anyone who paid enough attention.

She puts a hand on his shoulder in comfort.

"I thought maybe..." he starts, his eyes watering, "maybe he would, I don't know... I guess... realize his feelings and get a taste of his own medicine..."

He looks up at the ceiling, trying not to cry, "oh god, I sound crazy."

"The worse part is that I really like her," he huffs, annoyed.

"She is amazing and would totally be my type. If only..." he trails off, closing his eyes taking a deep breath.

He puts his head in his hands.

Rubbing his eyes, "I can't keep leading her on like this, Maddie," he sighs, staring at his hands.

A door opens, "she deserves to know I am in love with Eddie," he states, looking up at Maddie, who has a matching sad expression, her hand around him in comfort.

She then glances behind him, eyes widening. Confused, he follows her eyes to see a frozen Chimney just outside the baby's room.

It is dead silent as a shadow slowly moves through the room, and Buck's face drops. A very disheveled and alarmed Eddie walks into view stopping at the door frame.

They make eye contact, and time stops; everyone is silent, no one moving an inch. Silently Chimeny and Maddie glance between the two.

Buck is frozen still.

Maddie gives Chimney a slight nod, and he clears his throat. Broken from his trance, Buck turns around facing the fireplace, not knowing what to do. He tries to decide if he should just make a run for it.

This can't be happening right now.

Maddie slowly gets up, walking to the bedroom past the kitchen, nodding her head signaling Chimney to follow her.

Buck just sits there staring at the fire, silently praying that another tsunami hits, taking him out for real this time. Eddie silently sits down as the bedroom door closes.

Buck closes his eyes, folding his hands sighing, "please just forget anything you just heard," Buck pleads quietly.

A moment passes, Buck staring at the fireplace and Eddie gazing at him in contemplation.

"No," he replies finally.

"Wha-" Buck turns, being met with Eddie's lip on his in a sweet, much too short kiss.

Breaking apart, they stay close, Eddie biting his lip, smiling. Buck stares in amazement at the golden light radiating off of Eddie, and he brings him in for another kiss.
