The Time Before

Chapter 9: Night of Fear

Third Person POV

He woke up with beads of sweat rolling down his face. He got up from the bed and walked to his suitcase. Everyone else was still sleeping, but they'd be up soon anyways. He grabbed his clothes and walked over to the bathroom. He turned on the water for the shower and was surprised to feel the warmth of the water.

"Wow. Only time I've taken such a relaxing shower was whenever I stayed with Hisu." he thought to himself. He missed her, truly.

He walked out of the bathroom to see the rest of the male members of Levi Squad waking up. He finished putting on his socks and shoes before going to get a cup of water.

"What're you doing up and dressed for so early? Meet a girl already?" Jean asked smirking at Eren.

"What the hell? No!" Eren exclaimed at the long faced man.

"No need to be so defensive. You got a girl waiting at home then I presume?" Connie chuckled.

"What's with the questions? And no... there isn't anyone waiting for me at home." Eren snapped back at him.

Once everyone was up and dressed, they headed out into town. It was breathtaking, really. Technology was far advanced here than back home.

"Home." The word lingered in Eren's head for so long. How he wished to be able to just stay with her.

They made their way toward the town shops where food, souvenirs, candy, and more was all being sold on the streets. One shop caught his attention. It sold necklaces with a glass ball on the end. One piece stood out more than the rests. Its ball was a mixture of blue and white. It reminded him of Historia and her beautiful eyes.

He bought the necklace to hold onto until they returned.

He rejoined the group as they went into a building where a political discussion was being held.

"They are just poor victims forced in by the Eldian Empire's cross-breeding!"

"The ones we should have been despising from the start, are those island devils!"

"The ones to detest are the devils who ran away to that island 100 years ago!"

"Our enemies are the devils of that island!"

Eren was disgusted by what he was hearing. They wouldn't even give them a chance. See the people of Paradis for who they really were.

He got up, and left.

Not to be seen again until that night.

The night war... was declared.

"Reiner... its been four years."

"It's like they said, I'm the bad guy."

"I just might destroy the whole world."

"I keep moving forward... until I destroy my enemies."

"TO THE ENEMY FORCES OF PARADIS ISLAND, CONSIDER THIS, A DECLARATION OF WAR!"

In that moment it was loud, yet silent. Explosions boomed all around as the Attack Titan emerged from the buliding complex behind the stage where the speech was held. Debris was flying through the air. Chaos erupted just as quickly as the screams.

Eren sprinted to the seating area with military generals, commanders, and authorities. He dived into the seating killing most of the people there. He never felt this... power before. The adrenaline rush he was experiencing was like nothing before. He couldn't be stopped. He wouldn't be.

He continued to destroy the area around him when suddenly the area flashed yellow. He turned around to see a titan transforming behind him. Something didn't feel right with this one, but he didn't know what.

He refused to let himself become distracted. Before the titan finished transforming, he hardened his fist and delivered a devastating blow to the titans head. It was sent back, crashing into the ground. He jumped on top of it and continued to pummel it into the ground. Its head was being broken apart, its jaw barely intact. Suddenly a pillar shot through the ground catching Eren by surprise and impaling his titan, leaving him sitting in the air.

"What the hell is this?" Eren thought to himself.

Suddenly the titan formed a massive hammer out of nowhere, getting ready for a fatal swing.

"So this is it, the Warhammer Titan."

The Warhammer Titan swung at Eren, who narrowly dodged it by managing to break off of the pillar.

"That was close. Too cl-" Eren thought when he was bombarded by cannon fire. He turned to see the Warhammer Titan taking another swing.

"Shit!" Eren quickly hardened his arms in an effort to defend himself but to no avail. The hammer smashed right through his arms and tore his head right off his Titans body.

"Damn it. I didn't want to drag them into this. But... I promised her. I promised I would come back. I won't let it end here. It can't."

"Usurper, Eren Yeager. Any last words?" the Warhammer Titan said in a hollow voice.

"Now or never, Mikasa."

Mikasa swung out from behind the building behind the Warhammer Titan, shooting thunder spears directly into its nape.

The entirety of the titans nape exploded, sending the titan crashing to the ground. Mikasa then landed on the shoulder of my titan which sat lifeless on its knees.

"Eren... what have you done?" she asked him. Tears were in her eyes as they looked out at the destruction.

"Women... children... they're all dead. You killed them. You can't take that back." she choked up, "Come home. Please."

Eren looked back at the Warhammer Titan.

"Our fight isn't finished. Look." Eren said as the titan rose from the ground with its nape repaired.

"Impossible! I blew its nape up!"

"And I beat it down with all my strength. Keep it distracted. If this works, I'll be able to eat the Warhammer Titan."

She continued to hold its attention, long enough for Eren to make another transformation. His suspicions were confirmed. The Warhammer Titan gree from the ground, not the nape.

A tangled mess of long cords laid out on the battlefield. Eventually, it led underground. Eren made his way to the spot where it went through the debris. He reached underground and pulled out exactly what he expected, a crystal similar to Annie's. It was attached to the cord. Eren ripped the cord off the crystal and just like that, the titan fell to the ground dead.

Suddenly, he felt claws dig into his shoulders. Porco Galliard, the new Jaw Titan, had jumped onto him before planting a bite on Eren's nape.

To the warriors surprise, a flash flew past the side of his face. He suddenly couldn't bite. It was none other than Ackerman himself. Levi had slice right through his jaw.

Eren freed himself from the titans grasp and slammed him into a building. The scouts were spread throughout Liberio at the moment, destroying their supplies and taking out as many soldiers as possible. Soon two other warriors arrived. One being Pieck Finger, the Cart Titan. The other... was none other than Eren's half brother, Zeke Yeager, the Beast Titan.
