"Attention! Home room class is about to begin. Everyone stop talking and take your seats." Iida says as he comes into the classroom and we all just look at him since everyone else was already sitting.
"Uh, we're all sitting."
"Yeah, you're the only one who is still standing." Kirishima and Sero point out and I couldn't help but to laugh softly and shake my head a bit as Iida plops down into his seat.
"Hey Tsu..." Mina says as she leans her chair back to talk to Tsu, almost falling backwards in the process. "So... Who do you think's gonna teach class today?"
"No idea. Mr. Aizawa's still in the hospital recovering from his injuries." I listen to everyone else around me speak until the door slides open.
"Morning, class." Aizawa says as he walks in, face and arms still covered in bandages. Everyone else was surprised to see him there. Me on the other hand, expected something like this. "My well being is irrelevant. What's more important is that your fight isn't over yet.... The UA Sports Festival is about to start."
"I don't think that's a good idea." I say and everyone looks at me as if waiting to explain. "We just had villains attack the school and now we're going to let the sports festival go on? People are already starting to question how safe it really is here..." Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought the same thing as Jiro and Ojiro spoke up as well.
"Apparently, the administration thinks this is a good way to show that the threat has been handled and our school is safer than ever. Plus they're beefing up security compared to past years. This even is a huge opportunity for all students at UA. It's not something we can cancel because of a few villains."
"Uh I'm sorry, but why not. It's just a sports festival!" Mineta pipes in and Midoriya turns to look at him.
"Huh? Mineta, don't you know how important this competition is?"
"Of course I do! I just don't wanna get murdered."
"Oh you're such a little bitch...." I groan with a sigh. Aizawa clears his throat before speaking again.
"Our sports festival is one of the most watched events in the entire world. In the past, everyone obsessed over the Olympic games. But then quirks started appearing. Now, the Olympics have been drastically reduced in terms of scale and viewership. For anyone who cares about competition, there's only one tournament that matters. The UA sports festival."
"That's right. And top heroes everywhere will be watching. This is where you get scouted." Momo pipes in, soon followed by Denki.
"She's right. After graduating, a lot of people join pro agencies as a sidekick."
"Yeah, but that's as far as some people go. They miss their chance to go indie and stay eternal sidekicks. Actually, that's probably where you're headed. You're kinda dumb." Jiro pipes in after Denki and I can't help but to laugh again at the two of them.
"It's true that joining a famous hero agency can garner you greater experience and popularity. That's why the festival matters. If you wanna go pro one day, then this event could open the path for you. One chance a year. Three chances in a lifetime. No aspiring hero can afford to miss this festival. That means you better not slack off on your training. Class is dismissed."
Come lunchtime, I haphazardly listened to everyone talk about how excited they were for the festival. I sigh and shake my head a bit before drawing random shapes on one of my notebooks.
"Aren't you excited for the festival Melody?" Kirishima asks and I look up at him.
"Eh, I'm probably not going to do it this year. Maybe next year."
