Thats Just Their Nature

Sirius, Remus, James, and Peter were sitting at the Gryffindor table in the great hall like they did everyday. James was ranting to the poor 2nd year in front of him, someone who had just thought that James was cool, and tried to talk to him. Remus was trying to ignore Sirius, who was twisting Remus wavy golden brown locks around his fingers complaining about god knows what, and Peter was eating himself to the point of exhaustion. This was what happened every morning. Sometimes they wouldn't even go to class, they would just roam the halls of Hogwarts like nothing else in the world mattered. Today wasn't any different. After the 2nd year had run off James started to try and convince Remus to ditch Divination eventually getting Sirius to join in. After several minutes they had gotten Remus to agree and without much of an argument because he was a realist, and didn't believe in telling the future. They had only been in school for a week and they already hated doing work. They got up and made their way out of the large great hall with no intention of going to their next class. Walking up the moving staircase they did their usual and tried to push each other off, to no avail. Passing by several first years trying their hardest to not freak out over the fact that the stairs could move at any second with no warning. They were walking down the long corridor leading to the fat lady portrait, when thy were stopped by a very shy 1st year student. A small voice came up interrupting James story about Lily smacking him over the head with a book in their first Potions class. With a small squeak the young girl asked
"Um, sorry for bothering you but I'm lost and I can't remember where to go." They all stopped and looked down at the young girl in small red and gold robes. She stood for a second shifting her feet before turning her head up, and speaking more loudly.
"I'm sorry, I'm just a bit lost am need help." Shaking themselves out of their stunned state since they haven't spoke to a 1st year since they were in 3rd, they stopped fully and turned to the girl. The first one to do anything was Sirius. He looked down at her, flashed on his infamous grins and asked
"Well what can we do for you?" This seemed to calm the girls nerves a bit and she continued
"Well I haven't been here long and I forget which towers is ours." They had forgotten that the Ravenclaw's also had a tower to the exact liking of the Gryffindor one. They looked at each other before James spoke up smiling kindly at the young girl
"It's the portrait with fat lady. Do you want us to show you?" She bit her lip thinking for a second before she answered
"Can you please?" Sirius laughed and noted
"Of course." Motioning to follow them the girl less timidly made her way over to the group. They walked in silence for a couple second before Remus spoke up
"What is your first class today." Shifting her books in her arms she said somewhat proudly
"Care of Magical Creatures."
"Do you like it?" She smiled and nodded excitedly. After more light small talk they had reached the fat lady portrait. James turned around at the portrait and proclaimed
"Our tower entrance is the one with the fat lady portrait." In response she said
"It's just confusing because they're the same height so looking outside doesn't do any good." The ones with black wavy hair both stopped with Sirius and James asking
"What?" She went to repeat herself when Sirius interrupted her.
"No I know what you said, but the towers are the same size?" She looked confused before responding
"Yes" Sirius thought for a second before saying the password , and ushering her in.
"Have a good day, just ask us if you need more help," as the other boys went to walk inside he stopped them. They all stepped back confused watching the portrait hole close.
"What was that about Pads?" Remus queried
"Did you hear her?"
"Yes"
"Their tower is the same height as ours."
"Well it makes sense, as the building should be built symmetrical-" Remus was cut off by Sirius saying
"You know what that means?" Remus sighed pulling his hand over his face, but before he could respond James and Sirius said in almost exact unison
"We need to make the tower taller." Remus looked at them with a look of stun, before saying
"How in the hell are we going to do that?" As if in some unspoken agreement Sirius quickly yelled
"Longbottom!" Before running in with James, Remus, and Peter quickly in tow.

All four of the boys were making their way to the dorm they all shared with one very tired Frank Longbottom.
"What did you need me for again?" Frank asked desperately
"Well you have muggle things right?"
"Yes." The four looked at each other earning a groan from Frank
"What do you want?" They entered the room and they said
"We just need a muggle thing that Lily taught us about, something she said you would have, we think that its called duct tape." Making his way over to his trunk Frank started pulling things out of it. Finally he brining his arm out he revealed a roll of something with a shiny light grey colour. Frank handed it to Sirius saying
"Whatever you're using this for, I want nothing to do with it."
"Can do, Longbottom," Sirius said clicking his tongue. All four of the boys left the room running to one of the windows that lead to the outside.
